Thanks for getting this up before it hits the "you know where" front page! Gotta get this even if it sits in my spare parts pile for a bit.

I picked up the X750 earlier this month for $90 after rebate. I haven't sent rebate out yet.

Is it worth it to me to try to resale this X750 after I submit rebate and pick up this X850 for roughly $20 more?

I wont be running SLI/X-fire for awhile. I just want a power supply that will last me the next 5-10 years on builds. If that is possible.

Thanks for the help...

Doesn't seem worth the effort. The X750 is a great psu, seems to fit your needs, plus you paid $20 less for it.

will my X750 handle SLI/X-Fire when I am ready?
thanks.

Should be fine. My rig pulls ~920W at full tilt from the wall or ~775W at the PSU. One less card would probably take that down to 550-600W at the PSU which is just fine for a quality 750W unit.

I also got the X750 for $90.00 deal. This one is good too if you need that much power.

Damn... I'm tempted to buy this just to be future proof. I'm running a Corsair 450W and I'm still running a socket 775 system with QX9650 and using a 7850. Hmm...

This is a great power supply. Highly ranked/regarded. I bought the X750 model (I've purchased over 4-5 for clients) and it broke within a month (shipping issues; it rattled before operation slightly not seasonics issue). When I went to exchange it, they looked at me as if I was crazy and opened it up right there to make sure I didn't douse it with water. I got a replacement and never had issues since. Seasonic also makes the PSUs IIRC for a large amount of companies that relabel seasonic PSUs or use the companies PCB design, etc.

Should be fine. My rig pulls ~920W at full tilt from the wall or ~775W at the PSU. One less card would probably take that down to 550-600W at the PSU which is just fine for a quality 750W unit.

It's fine based on that math, but I would like to remind people that the higher the amount of draw on a PSU, the more energy efficient it becomes up until around 75% load. After around 75% load, efficiency drops and hardware is stressed significantly from heat and long-term use. It also increases overall thermal load, which is the main cause of PSU failure next to component quality (caps, etc). Having a over-qualified power supply can help in certain situations: heat, efficiency at >80% load, and durability (more based on components used) come to mind. I would say buying the 850 is more of a 50/50 choice; if you want something to last 4+ years, have extra room for upgrades without thinking twice and not worry about it breaking, you could go with the X850. If you are a college student/someone without a disposable income and plan on upgrading within 2 or so years, and are trying to crunch wattage I'd stick with the 750. I'm not sure how heavy loads work over years time affects power supplies versus less loaded ones, but I'd guess the 850 at 600w load will last longer than a 750 at 600w based on heating and cooling of parts (lower thermal range possibly). Just a hunch, though. I know the following stuff from dealing with PSUs over the last decade. Just getting technical here!
