maybe its just me, but $260 for a cpu that will be worth 1/2 of that in a few mos doesnt seem like a good deal. intel overprices these cpus so much its insane. bump for a good deal to those who like to spend a lot of money on cpu's
Jonathan Joseph, of Salomon Smith Barney Inc., in San Francisco, said the giant chipmaker will slash prices on its Pentium 4 processors up to 67 percent in conjunction with the release of its 2.8GHz chip Aug. 25 and in a second round of cuts Sept. 1.

Think I should jump on this now or wait a little longer.

I agree that you can't wait for prices to stop falling but with the possible release of intel 2.8GHz on monday you might see a significant difference in price by waiting an insignificant amount of time.
Or, save yourself the trouble and buy AMD!![]()
Intel has its advantages but AMD gets you more for your money.Originally posted by: Platinum321
i wouldn't touch AMD w/ a ten foot pole.. just mo.

IMO, I wouldn't touch Intel with that same pole. Way overpriced and someone has to support the competition. That's what is keeping Intel in line. Imagine if they were the only game in town. You would be paying a lot more than above 260 after a price cut. When was the last time you saw Microshaft drop the prices on older or outdated products. You Intel fans really should be grateful that AMD is still alive and kicking.
I've got agree with you, except that the way you put it makes it sound like you get the speed and stability without having to pay a premium for it.Originally posted by: evilbauJust because AMD is Intel's competitor isn't a good reason to support it. I support a product because it's better. Athons were better and cheaper for a long time, and I supported them. Now P4s are better and while still more expensive, they are faster and more stable, IMO. I go with whats the best in the market at any given time.
