I was about to mock you about this but I see several others beat me to it 😀

Yeah, we all would love to get in on the eVGA 7800 GT and motherboard deal but we still need CPU's.

eVGA Geforce 7800GT + Socket 939 nForce4 SLI motherboard - $359
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego - $211
Total=$570

Maybe I can get $125 for my old A64 3000+ and Chaintech Board and another $100 for my AIW9800 Pro. So I would be looking at $570 - $225 = $345
Or ~ $156 more that the current price on the x850XT after rebate.

I don't know what I want to do?

just came back from Micro Center here in Houston.
was planning on go in to the store and ask for a price adjustment.
I paid $249.99 for mine back on 1/1/06 and since then they had update the price to $239.99

Went back to Micro Center store in Houston this afternoon to return my $249.99 X850XT
There are still like 20 some X850XT on the shelf, rebate ends 31st. Still time to pick one up for $249.99

Bring the flier linked above in this thread, they should adjust that price immediately if you buy it before the 14th.

I think $200 for this board is an awesome deal. AGP is not nearly as dead as Nvidia and ATI would like to make it out to be, and I think a lot of people will hold out for the next year or more before moving up to a PCI-E equipped system. I did, but only because after selling my MSI K8Neo Plat w/ A64 2800+, 1GB of RAM and 6800GT AGP, it was only another $200 for me to move up to an ASRock 939Dual-SATA w/ Opteron 146, 2GB of RAM and an eVGA 7800GT.

x850xt is pretty much the cream of the crop for AGP boards tho, although I've heard stirring rumors of ATI and Nvidia considering AGP parts of their current generation chips. Whether that'll happen or not is anybody's guess, would be a good idea financially for them IMO tho, especially when a 6800GT AGP is selling for almost $300 used on EBay!

7800GS to be released in AGP . . .

DEAL DEAD? Link gone, rings up as $399 in stores. 🙁

Not dead, just got one in Houston - was a return on the clearance shelf, total with tax came up to $205 with the $50 rebate will bring it down to $155, plus i have my old 9800 Pro 256MB to sell - so this will come out to a VERY cheap upgrade!

Also, i know they still have over 100 of these in Kansas City and over 40 left in Houston - both places have it still for $240

if someone would be willing to pick uo an extra and ship it to me I would be infinately grateful. At sale price of course 🙂

I just had my bro-in-law buy me this while he was in Houston (I'm actually in St. Louis where there is sadly no Microcenter). It will be a few days before i receive it. Below is my current setup. What should i expect or will i see a difference (i.e. do i have another bottleneck that will make this upgrade pointless)?

P4 3.0c CPU
P4I865PE Soyo Dragon 2 Plus Mobo (8x AGP)
1 GB PC3200 (Geil Value Ram)
120 WD IDE HD
ATI 9800 Pro 256mb (256 bit version)
Current 3dMark 2005 = 2831
Current 3dMark 2003 = 5948

Thanks for your thoughts!

You wont see too much bottlenecking, the 9800 to x850 upgrade is fantastically excellent and quite noticable.

I had pretty much the same setup as you:

Pentium 4 3.0c processor
Asus P4P-800 Deluxe mobo
1GB PC 3500 (Kingston)
160GB Maxtor
9800 Pro (128MB)

You will notice a BIG difference going to the X850XT... and there shouldn't be any bottlenecks for you either.

Hm..didn't they say that they'll start filling the backorders in a few days..does anyone have any idea when they are getting them..or if they are getting them at all.

I just got around to filling out the rebate form, to send it in. The upc on the box doesn't match the one on the rebate. The upc on my box is 727419412391. The two listed on the rebate are 727419412384 and 727419412322. Anyone else notice this, or have a form that matches my upc?

I checked mine and they are the same as yours. However, I didn't mail in the UPC code, I mailed in the Serial Number label, since either one could be used. I hope that this isn't going to cause problems getting the rebate!
