greetings AT'ers. I have a couple of questions and maybe even one tip to share (not sure if it'll work)

Question1: when you buy the cell phone from buy.com and they ask you to choose a plan ->

are you immediately charged for the plan?
is there an activation fee?

Question2: i know that you have to get a one year subscription to qualify for the rebates, buy.com price ->

but do i have to get the plan THROUGH buy.com? meaning, if I buy the phone here and get subscription elsewhere does that count?

/on a side note: personally I'm looking for the 35 dollar plan (national) with 300 anytime and 3000 nights and weekends, but I couldn't find that on buy.com

QUASI-TIP1: from getconnected.com you can get the 100 dollar rebate + 50 dollar rebate from getconnected.com if you subscription from them. Is it possible to get the buy.com price (100) then subscribe through getconnected?

what if you sign up w/ buy.com and immediately change your plan?

what do u think. lemme know!

There is a $35 activation feed as listed on buy.com's website. Their plans are the same as listed on the att.com website, they don't allow all of them (like the national plans) and they all stink imo. I emailed AT&T asking them how soon we can change to a better plan if we signed up through buy.com. Best Buy has this phone on sale for $99 so I'm stopping by there today to see what plans they offer. That national plan looks really nice, I hadn't seen that before. Also, att.com lists the $35/mo national as 300 anytime and unlimited nights/weekends (even better)! I'm hoping best buy will offer this deal.

Also, buy.com requires you sign up through them or else you pay the $300 price (I think it's $300) that the phone normally goes for.

Does anyone else have details about getting out of your AT&T service commitment early? When does it expire?

Has anyone gotten their phone yet from buy.com? I ordered mine of 6/8 and is still processing. I called them up and they said it's on backorder. However it's been showing "ships in 24 hrs" for the past 2 weeks, and it's even on the front page of the site now.

Maybe youre right, I was quoting from memory and that thing is pretty unreliable, you got the point though. you can get out from your contract if you want.

Just call up att from your phone(611) and tell them that you received this note from them that states that due to the fact that they changed the contract(something about changes in directory assistance charges) you have a right to cancell your contract without paying the early cancellation fee. Thats it, they have to let you go by law.

Darn. I really wish we had the 60 days. If I cancel my **new** line within 20 days of the notice, I won't have had the phone active for the 30 days required by the Motorola rebate. Would've been nice to have gotten the phone for just the activation fee and two month's service.

When were these notices sent out? I looked at my May bill and there is no mention of it, was it in the June bill? I should be receiving that soon.

What is Buy.com's CS phone number? I cant find the damn thing. BTW, there is a plan on the attws.com website for 600 anytime, unlimited N&W, and free nationwide LD for $40 a month w/o activation charge. THe catch: 2 year contract. I placed an order via buy.com with the 29.99 plan but will switch to this one once I call to activate it. According to buy.com and ATT, I wont be charged by either party. Pretty good deal IMO. opinions? BTW, tehre is a rebate for $20 off $35 worth of V60 accessories.

The plan

I ordered 6/2 and just received it today 6/18, my order took a long time to "process" also. They didn't ship it until 10 days after ordering and had to ship from Indiana to me in Calif. So for the guy who ordered 6/8, hopefully, it'll start shipping soon for you.

I suspect the notices are in the June bills. I received mine with my first bill on my new line. My "old" line's bill hasn't come yet this month but I suspect the notice will be in there.

Nice deal, even though I'd like a free V60 from AT&T, I can get a much better plan through Verizon. :)

I really wouldn't mind going through Verizon but for my purposes their plans aren't as good as AT&T's. Verizon's coverage is supposed to be the best in Hawaii, though.

has any of you had any luck getting the phone for free after rebate directly from AT&T for extending existing contract? I don't really want to have to change my number.

Anyone know where this rebate is? I'd like to buy the desk charger for this phone, and $20 off would be mucho cool.

This rebate is on the same form as the $100 phone rebate but appears to only be available if you purchase/activate the phone and buy the accessories from an AT&T wireless (company run) retail store. The rebate form with the additional $20 offer, which I've only seen in AT&T wireless retail stores, is different from the rebate forms at the authorized dealers.

They sell generic desktop chargers on ebay for like $8... Lots of v60 stuff on ebay for very low prices... dunno what the quality is like tho..

So far (knock on wood), I've had excellent luck with the generic stuff from ebay. I haven't had any problems using it for my Nokias or the Motorola V60 (though I haven't yet tried the desktop dual charger and travel charger for the V60 yet). The only real concern I have is whether using these generic charging items or batteries will void my warranty (will they know if there's a problem?).

Well.....I've been told that using a generic charger can ruin a battery. I'm sure it all boils down to the quality of the generic, but then, that's a tough thing to judge....for me anyway.
For the relatively small price I think I'll stick with a genuine charger since it'll last for the life of the phone, and then some.

Well, I bought some generic stuff on ebay. Cost me $31 shipped. Price for motorolla branded items was over $210... For me saving $180 is worth the risk..

I had a similar experience with one of the contracts I cancelled. The funny thing is that I was asked, "What can we do to keep you as a customer?" the first time. Unfortunately, I really did want to cancel that one. The second time, I even told them I was using the change in terms as an excuse to cancel my contract and get a v60g from Voicestream but they didn't offer even a discount on the phone - just cancelled my line per my request. I guess it just depends on who answers your call.
