There's another thread on this phone being sold at Amazon for $250 less a $150 Amazon rebate and the $100 ATT rebate. Same deal in the end, but for people with AMEX BVG, maybe you can buy this phone from Amazon and do an AMEX BVG PM to Buy.com and make $150 off the deal

So, it would look like this:
$249.99 purchase price at Amazon
-$150.00 PM to Buy.com
-$150.00 Amazon rebate
-$100.00 ATT rebate
------------
=-150.01

It's late and I'm not thinking all that clearly - am I missing a reason why this wouldn't work??

Oh, other thread is Here

Buy.com product highlights "800 and 1900 MHz TDMA and analog".

I have had ATT in SoCal (near USC) and have had ZERO problems with it. Cingular is a big suck, by the way, in our area. Go with ATT.

If you're in the Boston, Massachusetts area, DON'T get at&t. The service isn't the best for wireless phone service.

Recently at a Cub vs Brewer game (in Milwaukee) there was an intoxicated Cub fan sitting in front of us doing the "play by play" on his cell phone for the entire game! People kept walking by stairing at him chanting "Can You Hear Me Now?"

Hey, this is a great phone my friend just got a few months ago and sound quality is almost as good as a land line. when he calls I can't tell that he's calling from a cell phone. I've got a nokia 3360 and desperately want a v60 because of the sound quality, also the external antenna gives it way better reception than the 3360. the only downfall is that there are no games on the v60. I want to get this but I'm stuck ina contract and I'm in the bay area so att is moving to gsm at the end of this summer. the rep's told me to expect a late august/ early september release for the gsm service. I got to say I am tempted to break my contract and get this v60, I really hate this 3360.

TechJunky, are you agreeing with billw on AT&T service in the Boston area? Is it crap?

One thing I noticed, the phone is also available thru Voicestream. Any idea if that would be a better choice?

Anyone know how AT&T fares in mid to south eastern Michigan? This deal is quite tempting as I'm looking to pick up a wireless service and have heard nothing but great about this phone.

does anyone know of a web site that details coverage by carrier?

I am thinking of getting this phone, but am concerned about what people have been saying about AT&T in the Boston area.

Thru today only Amazon also has the v60g GSM phone from VoiceStream free after rebates as well. Got mine last week and so far have been pleasantly surprised by VoiceStream service in the Metro Detroit/SE Michigan area. Customer service is top notch -- haven't yet waited a minute on hold for a helpful rep.

I printed out the web page from buy.com for the v60 and took it to my local AT&T store. They price matched on the spot. $99.99 plus $7.91 tax -$100 rebate. So my total will be $7.91. Great deal, thanks. AT&T also has a 15 day cancellation policy.

Can anyone find a customer support number for Buy.com??? I want to know if I can still buy the phone if I'm an existing AT&T customer.

for the next 60 days or so, you can cancel your AT&T service without having to pay the early cancellation fee if youre an existing customer. They changed some part of the contract about directory assitance(its not free any more) and send out notices inside your last bill stating that you can cancel within 60 or so days without having to pay the fee.... So if you want to upgrade, this is a good time to get out from the contract

I just got this phone. The $100 rebate is a Motorola/At&T rebate so buy it where it is cheapest. I have been a customer of AT&T for over a year and had the Nokia 8260 till I lost it. The insurance carrier was going to replace it with a 6360 but I refused.

For all those who are customers and really don't want to activate a new plan. Call customer service and push the issue that you a long-time customer who doesn't want to switch but might if there is no reason to stay. I didn't want to activate a new plan and loss my phone number (such a pain) so I called CSR and after a few calls got a $100 credit to my account as customer retention. They will even give you the credit if you don't purchase a new phone. Credit and promotional offers will vary depending on the CSR but in the end phone costs me $50 ($250-$100 MIR-$100 credit). And they also got me on a new plan and added extra anytime minutes as part of customer retention. This was more worthwhile than signing up on a new contract and getting a new number and paying the activation fee.

I asked to see if I could order it from Amazon and sign out on a new plan and keep my number and they said no. That it was not possible yet.

The phone is pretty good. The menus are not as good as Nokia's. This is my first non Nokia phone so I am a little biased. No wireless web and it is TDMA. AT&T is switching networks but that won't affect anything. By the time the switch is complete, most people will go and get new phones anyways since the old ones will be so outdated.

greetings AT'ers. I have a couple of questions and maybe even one tip to share (not sure if it'll work)

Question1: when you buy the cell phone from buy.com and they ask you to choose a plan ->

are you immediately charged for the plan?
is there an activation fee?

Question2: i know that you have to get a one year subscription to qualify for the rebates, buy.com price ->

but do i have to get the plan THROUGH buy.com? meaning, if I buy the phone here and get subscription elsewhere does that count?

/on a side note: personally I'm looking for the 35 dollar plan (national) with 300 anytime and 3000 nights and weekends, but I couldn't find that on buy.com

QUASI-TIP1: from getconnected.com you can get the 100 dollar rebate + 50 dollar rebate from getconnected.com if you subscription from them. Is it possible to get the buy.com price (100) then subscribe through getconnected?

what if you sign up w/ buy.com and immediately change your plan?

what do u think. lemme know!

vladgur, according to AT&T printed terms, you only have 20 days from the date you receive notification of the change in terms to cancel without incurring the early termination fee. Do you know of something I don't?
