I wonder if I can qualify for the rebate if I am already an AT&T customer and recommit to 1 year....

Holy smokes!

I substituted my zip for the &z=01854 in the hyperlink and it worked.

Is this really a free cell phone for 1 year???

What's the catch?
What goes with this that must be paid for, in addition?

service for one year with AT&T. If you decide to switch you'll get charged a $175 'disconnection fee' :|

nope, no wireless web on this phone.

the $10 off coupon doesn't work because the phone is $99.99, not $100... so you have to find something else to buy in the same dept. to make it go over.

There is 10% off if you use your Discover Card, but then you pay for shipping. It still cheaper though.

edit: ack.....nm, the order isn't $100, you're right 😛

Can anyone find a customer support number for Buy.com??? I want to know if I can still buy the phone if I'm an existing AT&T customer.

So, for free, I get stuck w/ATT for at least 180 days? No other charges, other than, say, long distance calls?

Go easy on me.
I've avoided getting a cell phone 'til now.
Always thought there were all sorts of incoming / outgoing / roaming / distance charges tacked on.
Or some $40/month additional fee.

A little help, for an uninitiated newbie?

nek.

you have to sign up for a monthly plan, of course, which may range from 20-100 bucks a month.

so there is a fee still, but it depends on you usage.

FWIW, I called the Motorola/AT&T rebate center and the rebate applies to phones purchased at any store, not just Buy.com
My local Best Buy sells it for $150, so $50 after rebate's not that bad at all 🙂

Thanks a bunch!

I hear AT&T and most other providers are switching to some sort of 3G network and this phone is still TDMA as far as I understand. Does it make sense to buy this phone if it will be old tech in couple months?

Im currently with AT&T and I love their service, but my contract expires on June 3 and I want to consider all other options.

don't order the phone yet!! the rebate starts tomorrow, NOT TODAY. the site says it starts 6/1/02, but the actual rebate says 6/2/02.

i hope places don't jack up their prices because of this.

AT&T won't scrap their TDMA networks, so don't worry. Can you imagine the backlash if AT&T decided to make all their customers buy new phones?

I actually used the coupon.. on the $99.99 and it brought it down to $89.99. I didn't hit send since I
saw the rebate started on June 2. If it goes through it goes through. Just came back from the mall and everywhere is selling for $199 except Bestbuy $149

still can't beat it.. just keep those fingers crossed about them not goiing up in price...
Another tidbit of information.. They are changing there are changes going into affect come June 4th.
all plans will start there nights at 9pm. and some plans loose Minutes. The sales rep showed my the e-mail.

Man I've been wanting this phone so bad but I'm happy with Voicestream. Although they don't treat there long-time customers so well. I've had one phone for almost 4 years (when it was originaly Omnipoint) and another one for my son that he's had for almost 1 year, and they still won't give me a decent deal on a V60.

I was one of those thinking about waiting for the 3G and GSM networks to kick in. Both of these have not mature yet and even if they are available good phones are likely to be expensive. GSM is only available in certain areas so coverage is limited. I opted out with Sprint PCS A400 instead. They have a lot of promotions on this phone everwhere. A very nice phone except no speakerphone. The v60 doesn't have wireless which is a turn off for me.

I don't understand why this phone is so expensive.

It looks like crap. Is a flip-phone which stinks, and isn't even web capable.

For free its great. For $200 or whatever it costs, its ridiculous

Hey, I paid $100 for V60 from Amazon last month and naturally plan to return it (hopefully I will be able to do that). But does anyone know if I will be eligible for the rebate if I order V60 from Buy.com this time? Not sure how my initial activation will play into this. Thx.

Brkdn, I called up Motorola rebate center and talked with rep today. Per him, this rebate can be used for V60 purchased from any authorized ATTWS dealer. I asked him again if Amazon.com is included he said yes. Looks good to me. I am thinking... I dislike phones with bad battery life. That's the only bad point I can see....

soo i have to select a plan or else i cant buy the phone for $100 bux?? I noticed my shopping cart didnt charge for the plan i selected but what does it mean? I already have att plan and i just want to get my phone added to that.
