Looks like the mods combined another thead with mine. Here's a repost of my previous link to the page on msnbc.com. See my post, above, for more instructions.

Anyone know how I can retro on this coupon?
If you bought the drive within the return/exchange period, take it back and ask them to return the drive and purchase it again.

If your drive's unopened, it shouldn't be a problem. If you already installed it, just tell them you'll accept the same drive for the purchase. If they go for it you won't even have to reload any progs or data, and they won't have to deal with aan open drive.

It might be a good idea to call and speak with a manager to set this up before you go.

Depends on the store. I used whole fist load this week. Cashier didn?t even look at the coupon, just scanned it in.

I think officially you are right they are not supposed to accept them, but if that were the case their sales would plummet. As my friend says the coupons are the only thing that makes them competitive, otherwise order stuff online and save $$.

Also the coupons get me to buy stuff I would not otherwise. Do I really need 2 Terabytes of hard drives sitting unused in the boxes? But for $25 a pop how can I pass them up.

Little hotter if you have a few empty toner/ink cartridges laying around. You get $3 off with each one (limit 3 per order).

I just raided the cartridge recycling box at work and saved another $9.

Got mine for $19 and change with 6% MI tax.

Got the last one on the shelf, now I got to check the other stores.

Okay, call me a rebate noob, but how do you send in rebates for 10 of these things?? I thought it was one rebate per household, and it seems like they wouldn't have any problem keeping track of how many rebates went to which addresses.

I just picked up two of these drives (send one rebate to a friends house), and there were several more at the Staples near me. Two coupons, cashier didn't read the fine print, just scanned 'em in (it helps if you're nice to them and make small talk). Oh, and I bought them as two separate purchases so there would be two receipts.

Also picked up the I/O Magic DVD drive. $20 AR is just too good.

Rebate actually says limit 5 rebates per household. I just picked up three with three different coupons and they didn't give me any grief. Thanks OP.

oh my, you're right. That makes this a smokin' hot deal.

Excuse me, be right back (rushes off to buy 3 more drives)

Vince

EDIT: Just got back from getting my other three. She had to ring them up one at a time because the system wouldn't let her ring them up at once. One Terabyte of hard drive space for $125 plus tax....that's damn good.

"looks like HDs are getting cheaper this Q1/2007, seen a bunch sales. "

What you will continue to see is huge HD's getting cheaper per GB. The reason is as the manufactures move to parallel recording they can get 10x the capacity for virtually the same manufacturing cost.

"I was thinkin' about getting a couple of these, but I want to move to SATA..."

That's funny. I tend to shy away from SATA. Maybe it is just the cables I get with my motherboards, but the SATA cables scare me. I like how small they are, but why are they so stiff? Seems to put an inordinate amount of stress on that tiny little connector which has virtually no support. I come from an industry that uses small but sturdy connector so the SATA connector really disappoints me.

I've been refreshing the hell out of that page, and I see no advertisement or link for a Staples coupon.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Am I not looking in the right place?

I just bought one of these. I used the $15 coupon + $3 ink coupon + $3 ink coupon + $3 ink coupon. With my 7% sales tax, the total came out to $70.60 and the $50 MIR printed. Woohoo...

Thanks for the post guys.

Ok, I'm not an idiot.

At the bottom of the page, this is all I ever see no matter how many times I refresh it.

You have some kind of adblocking software. Disable it for once and you should be able to access the ads.

I checked and the store will let me bring in the reciept to do a paper return to apply the $15 off. Now I need to worry that the online rebate I already submitted will now be cancelled when they see a returned unit. I can resubmit the rebate on the new reciept but then of course they will cancel because of a duplicate. Any advice from you rebate miracle workers on here?
Thanks

They will see the first receipt as being returned and that rebate will cancel. But the second won't be seen as a duplicate because you are allowed to claim 5 rebates per household for this drive. You are good to go.

Picked up one of these today. It says manufactured in Thailand by Seagate International and shows the warranty as three years on both the end of the box and on the warranty paper inside the box. I plan to pick up another one tomorrow. Thanks for the coupon link which was what decided me to buy one. The fact that it is a Seagate with a three year warranty decided me to buy another one. After tax that is less than 15 cents per GB -- cheaper than CDs!
