Ditto on this question. Unless the characters appear to move when you view the poster from different angles this is NOT the same as the 3D/Lenticular one. It may well be one of the "official posters as seen in theaters" and it may well be a really nice foil-printed poster, but none of that means its the same poster that everyone's hoping it is.

I don't think the term "3D/Lenticular" is a specific enough description. Lenticualr is described as "Shaped like a biconvex lens." Right. Bi-convex. I'm somewhat familiar with photography and lenses and a bi-convex lense is just ( )

Unless someone goes out and buys the $75 Allposters.com one, I guess we'll never know for sure. As for the rain falling, I have yet to put it up on my wall to check it.

The point behind this entire thread is that the one at Allposters is confirmed as being the "rain fall" type of poster (meaning the matrix code and symbols fall like rain when you move back and forth). But that poster over at Allposter's costs 75 wangs. Therefore, if this poster does the same thing for a measely $22ish shipped, then obviously it's the better deal by farrrrrrrrr. If it doesn't...

we should email allposters and ask why its 75 bucks. only their high quality art prints command a premium such as this. anybody know of other reputable poster retailers where we can compare prices on this poster?

as i said before, i am happy with what i got for my $25. It's tempting to go look for more positive reinforcement onmy purchase after the fact,. which it may look like what i'm doing, but i assure u im not. u saw my pics, look at that sparkle! =)

lazy typing due to lunch on desk (at work) i'm sure ya'll understand =)

Great, but here's the question we want to know: does the poster do the rain thing or not? If it does, CONGRATULATIONS!! Hehe.

in my limited research.. this one looks to be the 2nd advance version of the poster. the first one is the one w/ out the 515, but rather with 2003 towards the btm of the poster.

now ebay's a bit confusing on this one, because the sellers are selling both the lower priced version shown on the matrixshop site, and the higher end allposter.com site.

but seeing curious george's digi pic, made me decide to get the poster, not too shabby at $23.. hopefully the rain will be falling...

The point was to determine whether people were getting what they thought they paid for...

Well mine just arrived...it's exactly like Curious George described it
It has a holographic sight to it...looks like its a few inches deep.
As for the rain falling..umm..how can I tell if it's falling?? I mean when I walk past it..the image looks different because of the holographic type background..and code does appears here and there..but I dunno if the code is 'raining' down..??
Regardless, it's nice, bright, and shiny..I'm pleased with it :)

How is the Allposter's the higher end version? Not sure if you mean that the 2003 one is supposed to be higher one end or not. If so, at AllPosters it's $45.99, while the one we're getting is $74.99.

No, without turning this into too much of a science lesson "lenticular" does have a special meaning here. Remember those old baseball cards where you could see the player swing through three or four frames as you tilted the card? They had raised ridges that you could feel if you ran your thumbnail across them that acted as prisms to make different portions of the underlying image visible when viewed from different angles in order to create the animation effect. Modern lenticular graphics have evolved a bit since then to be smoother than those old ones, but the basic principle's the same.

If this poster is just a glossy foil-print job it's not really much of a hot deal -- a nice poster, sure, but nothing to write home about at this price. On the other hand, if it's the lenticular one that animates the code rain while the date appears to hover steady in front of it this is definitely hot. From the snippets we're hearing I'm leaning toward guessing that this is not what we're all hoping it is, but would be happy to be wrong.

I got mine today, arrived in perfect shape. Took it to a frame shop already to get it framed to match my other posters. It's big, cost me $80 to frame it. :Q

I did notice any "falling" effect when viewing it, but I wasn't particularly looking for it (only had it out for a couple mins at the frame shop). It does not have the textured surface of the baseball cards as described above.

Regardless, I'm quite happy with it.

I remember those baseball cards! Those kicked ass! I still have a few of those!

OK, after a lot of walking back and forth, I think it does "rain"! It's very important how the light hits it though. Close up with a light source reflected right at you it looks like the whole poster is shimmering. With a lot less light while walking back and forth only a few scattered lines at a time shine, sort of producing the appearance of "falling rain", i guess. It doesnt exactly fall, but i guess it is "raining" due to the fact that as you walk, you see different droplet paths of "rain"? Anybody get me? Bah whatever. It's a stupid POSTER for christssake.

When are my stupid frames gettin here? I need to put these damn things up already. Anybody with previous experience know how long FRAMEPLACE.com takes to ship?

Well, since I bought the poster and seen the real one in the theater, I don't think it's the same thing. Sure, this one is nice and glossy with different letters getting a different silvery gloss to it, but it's not the one you see in the theater with the falling raining letters. It is pretty to look at. I think the lenticular one would be a lot nicer, though. Too bad the theater wouldn't give it to me. I asked and they said they rent the posters and have to give them back.

Did you guys get an e-mail confirmation on the order? I ordered it the 25th and I still haven't even gotten an e-mail confirming my order yet...

Yeah I got an email confirmation after my order, and then another email to say that the poster was shipped. I got it in just two days. :)

well i just got a phone call from WB and they said that "there has been a problem with the packing of these posters, this isn't the first call i've received". Mine wasn't even sealed properly, yeah, i'd say that's a problem. But they're supposedly shipping out another one, hopefully the UPS driver doesn't decide he needs a 2nd poster and maybe i'll actually recieve this one. who knows

Just got mine today. I believe it is the one just like in the theater. It depends on the lighting and how close you are to it, when I was close I obviously couldn't see the falling but now that I've seen it from afar it definately has that falling rain effect.

Picked up a decent frame from Suncoast for $20. Professional framing started at $95 where I went, what a ripoff.

Doorbell? At 5:12 p.m.? Did my roommate lock himself out? Well, it's happened once before, so it's not inconceivable...

Well, what have we here? Why, it's a long cylindrical object, addressed to me, from the WB shop!

Yes, this poster is most certainly 3D. The best way I can describe it is that it gives the impression of being about an inch thick when you look at it. You'll understand when you see it for yourself, but it definitely IS 3D. As for lenticular, the illusion of depth causes the characters, or more precisely, the colors in the "inside", to shift as you move the poster about. It literally looks as if you could poke something inside the characters, as though they were cut out of the black poster face with a haze of various shades of green light shining from behind the face. Incredibly cool effect, very much more than I was expecting (figured it'd be just plain old foil characters). Since I didn't have an opportunity to see the "official" poster at the theater (first they fail to display the digital rain poster(s), then they screw up my RESERVED A MONTH IN ADVANCE tickets... they're not going to get much more business from me at this rate), I can't make a comparison, but it looks like the real thing to me.
