Was anyone in NY able to scan the $99 receipt? I could host it for others if necessary. I would like to go back to Brooklyn store to PM mine also. Thanks!

I have a copy of a receipt for a store in Hayward, the problem is that the receipt shows the drive as 129.99 then pricematched with another store to get it to 99.99. I wasn't able to get my CC to pricewatch with it so YMMV. This was sent to me by someone from FW

Deal is on in Las Vegas......picked one up for $129.99-30mir-30mir+tax=$79.00.....not too bad at all! Thanks guys.........

I bought it in store, and they printed out the rebate. I kind of want a different name on the rebate form, would it be ok to just use the internet form?

Yes - but $99.95 -$30 -$30 is even better 🙂

Picked one up for $69.99 today, but I've had a few problems with my first few burns. I did a lot of reading beforehand, so I think I'm using most of the recommended settings. I flashed the second most recent firmware FS0F and am using high quality Taiyo Yuden 4x (Fujifilm) media, but so far coasters are outnumbering good burns 2 to 1 with Recordnow and Nero.

If you have any less well-known tips, please post here or in my thread in the General forum:

Lite-On 411S DVD-R burning problems

Score! Got the last 451s @ the Mechanicsburg, PA store (3 other 411s on the shelf though) yesterday. Rang up as $149, but once I pointed out the $20 instant savings on the website (which, as of this morning has been removed) and that it said the item had to be picked up in store (she tried to tell me the extra $20 was a internet only thing), I walked out with a 451s for $129 + tax. Both $30 rebates printed. Went to the Harrisburg, PA store last night (they were all out of the drive when I went in yesterday BTW) with a copy of the receipt posted in a thread at Chubby Billfold and they wrote it off as a PM...no amount of arguing would sway them. Went back in this morning with the shelf tag posted on CB this morning and still they refused. The bonehead manager just kept showing their shelf tag and saying over and over that it was "their price"...damn broken record 🙂 I asked him to call the 86th st store in NYC to check the price, since I called them this morning and they are showing the $99 price w/the 2 rebates...he flat out refused. Whata d1ck. I gave him some well placed mild anger and dissatisfaction and he finally managed to pry the broom handle from betwixt his cheeks and called. Sho nuff, $99 - $30 - $30 = $39 AR. With tail between legs, he called the CS desk and out the door I walk with and extra $34 and change in my pocket (they 110% matched...the girl couldn't stop laughing cuz they were PM'ng their own store).

GL all!

Long post so I will get to the good stuff first.

Serials with the 6th digit as '9' are also 451s's (Manufactured Dec. 2003)

So I went into bestbuy (because I got a TON of BB GC for christmas) and looked for the drive. They had about 5 of them and they were all manufactured Dec. 2003 with a serial 429349XXXXXX I figured a newer drive might be better anyway so I took it up front and asked them to pricematch. They told me that they don't pricematch rebates. I asked them if they would then refund me the money that I had on my GC they told me that they couldnt. I asked for the store manager. I told the manager "All I want to do is buy this DVD drive, but since you guys won't pricematch, and I don't see the rebate clause posted anywhere, I want you to refund my GC so I can walk next door and buy it there" She told me that as you can see, GC are not redeemable for $$. I told her that my intention was not to refund my $$, I just want to buy it from here, and I just would like some sympathy because of my situation. Reluctantly she pricematched it for 69.99 (I didn't argue the 10% difference) and let me have it. So I got it for 69.99 + tax, sure I know I had a chance of getting it cheaper, but now I don't have to deal with rebates (I have enough outstanding as it is) so I think it was worth it. Then I took it out to my car I found it was a 451s!

I can confirm that! Just received my second lite on bought online from BB and the box says 'december 2003' and the six digit is a '9' and it's a 451.

I was nice. I bought mine for about 50 After taxes and rebates and am selling it for 80. Such a nice person I am.

The Circuit City on Rt 36 in Long Branch NJ has about 20 of these.

I got one. Mine has the 6th digit '9' and it is made in Sept 2003.

I can't get it to work with Nero, but with the Sonic software it works great, I burned 2 data dvds with it, one disk Fuji and the other Memorex. 4x DVD-R no problem.

Daddy likes.

Thanks for the heads up on this deal. The other thread on this drive says it can be bought for $40, but that turns out to be a real rare occurance. The vast majority of CC stores are at the $69.99 price after rebates.

It must be my lack of ambition (or luck), but I bought a 411 made in October, but it seems to work great. I haven't updated the firmware or anything, but I used intervideo dvd copy to burn my first three disks and both the + and - work in my cheapo apex, and the dvd-r works in the toshiba.😀

scored it for $40 in Sunrise, FL...definitely check out the FW thread on this one (a receipt and shelf tag available)...there must be 500 posts...23 pages worth

Got the last one in my local store. The shelf tag said 149.99, but was dated 11/27. I had printed out the screen capture posted earlier in the thread with the 20 savings, so got the drive for 69.99. Great deal for me 🙂 Now I just need to figure out how to get those DAP MST3k episodes converted into DVD format!
