Wei2cool - does the PCB have "Samsung" on it, or any other markings/codes????

Not on the PCB but a sticker covers across the chips says Samsung KOREA 0150 M368L6423CTL-CB0

If the DIMM module is a "true" Samsung/Samsung (ie. Samsung chips on Samsung PCB), it should have "Samsung" near the bottom edge below the right half of the lowest memory chip on the PCB. In the PNY memory modules, both the "TCB0" and "TCB3" modules have the following PCB marking/code above the right-half of the highest memory chip on the PCB:

"M381L1713CTL"

I believe that the absence of the "Samsung" trace on the PCB, means the module is not a true "Samsung" (ie. Samsung/Samsung) memory module, but memory made by a third party manufacturer using Samsung memory chips....

There is a mark on the upper right corner of the PCB. It reads (very small so bear with me if I am wrong) K381L3313CTL . Any you are right there is a very tine script on the bottom of the PCB and it reads

Samsung

Samsung TCB0 chips will run at PC2700. I have 2 sticks of 128MB in my Epox 8K3A with an XP1600 overclocked to XP2100 (1750MHz). Also, my system passes Prime95 torture test with the overclocked Samsung while the overclocked Micron (75B) won't. So those that got the Samsung chips for $80 got a great deal.

Saw that at 2 of the 3 best buys i went to this weekend.

Dont have a clue what this memory is.

If anyone be kind enough to leave a message, that would be great.

ALERT - I noticed in looking-over the module I picked-up, that there are *different* chips on the PCB ! ! ! !

Some of the chips are labeled:

224 2-2
MT 46V32M8
TG -75 B

.... and some are labeled:

222 4-2
MT 46V32M8
TG -75 B

I don't "think" this is of any significance, but might point to "why" Micron memory is showing-up in KByte retail packaging....

Anybody ever heard of Lei chips? I picked some up, all they had were either elixir or this Lei, thought I'd give it a try. I don't plan to overclock hopefully I'll be ok.

Marked:
Lei

That's good! I bought a Gig.

Not going to open the packages for a while just in case a sweeter deals shakes out in the next couple of weeks.

Best Buy should honor refunds up to 30 days on these and the rebate dosen't require a postmark until the first of Dec.

After looking at ~ 75 packages @ 2 stores; just bought 2 sticks that have a stick-on label "PC2100 CL 2". The only writing on chips is "32M x 8 SDRAM - 7 - T"

All of the other sticks were populated with 7.5ns / cas 2.5 ram, labeled VT, Elixir, or ....

does "32M x 8 SDRAM - 7 - T" look familiar?

FYI, you might want to check the back of your reciept. I believe RAM is a 14 day return at BB.

As always with BeastBuy, I place the order for in store pickup, get a confirmation, go to the store and they have a stick of 512mb PC133 to deliver to me. After arguing with their 3rd grade educated staff, they realize that it is the wrong item and guess what...the DDR memory is out of stock...THIS COMPANY IS NOTHING BUT A SCAM...of all the deals and all the companies I deal with, this is the absolute worse...they never have what they advertise, nothing but a bait and switch and they deserve to go under. The only way I would buy anything from this merchant is if it was an outright steal! OK hardcore dealers...how do we put BeastBuy out of business?

Nuff said 🙂

Correction,

The 14 day Returns & Exchanges apply ONLY to the following:

Computers, Monitors, Printers, Notebook computers, Camcorders, Digital Cameras and Radar Detectors.

I'm waiting for this to happen to me as well. I note that the only 512MB Reptron rebate on bestbuy's website for the time period in question is for PC133, not DDR.

I guess the "key" part of the quote here, is " in my IMHO opinion "....

So, why the new user ID - get banned under Slugbait or something????

In reality, no one has reported any problems, except when trying to overclock KByte memory that did not have MICRON chips. Some have gotten Micron/Micron ram, others Samsung/Samsung memory. Only one individual has reported problems, and that was KByte memory with elixir chips....

As with any memory reseller (KByte, Kingston, PNY, etc....), you have to search for memory modules with the higher quality chipsets. People have reported problems with the Kingston and PNY modules that have elixir, hynix, or Nanya chips - yet no one has bashed any of those deals. Furthermore, several "threads" are still running on Fat Wallet about this deal, and no one there is complaining this ram is crap....

While I still haven't been able to confirm whether this is Micron/Micron ram, the memory module I got does have Micron chips. $80 for 512MB of Micron DDR memory is a hot deal, so unless you have a better one, go play in some beer....

P.S. "IMHO" means in my humble opinion - your "humble" opinion is noted....

Read the rules before posting, you could be banned noob.

It's just slugbait posting under a not too clever alias (Slugbate versus Slugbait, both of which have the exact same signature block - duh!). It will give the MODS something to do today (tracing his IP addresses)....

.... of what?

Slugbait - would you please refrain from thread-crapping in this thread - you were already warned by the MODERATOR once for thread-crapping in this thread. If you have nothing constructive of offer, I am going to ask that you refrain from posting in this thread.
