Got my laptop today!!!!

was shipped from china... didn't expect this to come this fast...

of course, got my printer earlier...

it's time to send some rebates out!

btw, laptop is SEXY
 
i can only dream of getting my laptop so quick as some of these other people 🙁

Exactly two weeks from order date and nothing yet (still processing)...just a printer that arrived 9 days after order date.

installing Windows XP Prof right now.

hmm one of thing that I am dissapointed about the laptop...

I ran Starcraft on my laptop...
it stretches to fit the widescreen,
when I change the setting to keep it's ratio.. it's too small...

arg, i can't find any other option to fix this..
 
Go to the advanced graphics options, and then under displays, hit the LCD panel button. Uncheck the "stretch" option (it's the only one, I think). 1024x768 runs fairly well on this laptop, if you can ignore the screen space you "lose".

Interestingly, some laptops with ATI chipsets apparently give the option of getting a "1066x800 box" (ie, the maximum 4:3 you can get on a 1280x800 chipset) for all 4:3 resolutions, while scaling the specified resolution appropriately (ie, so you have a "real" resolution of 800x600 or 640x480 in your "physically sized" 1066x800 viewing area). The zv6000's drivers don't give this option, and I'm not sure how to enable it (oh, how I long for thee, coolbits). (Sorry if that makes no sense.)

In terms of gaming, the laptop is pretty good if you turn down image quality a couple notches. You'll need a real mouse, of course, since the trackpad is just totally worthless for gaming. Some stuff I've tried:
1. San Andreas runs fine at 1280x800
2. Guild Wars runs fine at 1280x800
3. Sims 2 runs fine at 1280x800
4. Prince of Persia runs OK at 1024x768 if you turn IQ down a lot (still looks OK, just not as impressive)

If i uncheck the 'stretch' option, my 800x600 games will be... 800x600 literally...
so small.. hahaha

hell, i guess i will have to live with it.

just wondering, how many people had to wait over 2 weeks for any change in their processing status for their laptop order? So far it's been 16 days since my order date and there's still no change in the order status, and I can't tell when the estimated finished or shipping date is since I don't see it anywhere on the status site. I dunno if I'm worried that nothing's happened yet or if I'm just too antsy to get it lol.

I think it all depends on what kind of parts you get...

Yours might be lagging cuz of the parts or something..

umm... you should give them a call after 3 weeks..
 
just got my tracking # today, but fed-ex says they've had it since sept 6. it's been just sitting in SHANGHAI for 10 days. WTF

at least it's moving now, est. delivery sept 22. ordered 8/30

junky, check the email and see if you got multiple tracking numbers...
on my email of 'tracking number' I got 2 different numbers on 4 links...
one of the tracking was mine, and other one was heading to somewhere else...

FYI,
My package's shipping date was Sep 13, 2005
and I got my latptop on Sep 15, 2005...

so.. mine came pretty fast, considering the shipping was "ground"

My e-mail had 2 links, 1 to tech depot order status and 1 straight to fed-ex

printer was shipped separately with a different track#, got it a week ago

The weekly ad at officedepot is having a deal on the same laptop again...is it the same great deal?? I just purchased my ZV6000 last weekend from the HP site and was pist that I missed this deal by a week and now i'm even more frustrated that its back again a week after I ordered. Sigh.

Also, does anyone know what RAM chip this laptop is compatible with?

And does anyone know any additional info on the return policy for HP. I'm considering returning the laptop to save that extra $200. The site doesn't say anything about a restocking fee but I wanna make sure of it.

I am not sure.. but I think there will be a restocking fee....
contact HP since you bought it from them... and ask them for return policy.

from the time mine left Shanghai to my doorstep in Georgia took 31 HOURS, no sh!t.
 
hm...mine's still sittin in shanghai with estimated delivery on the 26th. They even got it down to the time at 10:30am...

Hope I can get it before the weekend comes up so at least I'll be home when it comes.

well, checked again today. Looks like I have qualified for the other two $100 rebates.

Rebates recognized and qualified by Office Depot so far:

1) Select BYO NB w/AMD 64 Processor $100, Qualified, being processed
2) Select BYO HP Pavilion Notebook $100, Qualified, being processed
3) HP Pavilion zv6000 NB Package $100, Qualified, being processed

I believe I sent them on 8/31. I know I'll get the HP rebates. The concern was of the third rebate that was online and not mentioned in the store. But seeing from my status, officedepot is accepting all three rebates for this laptop. wohoo!

Mine still says "Qualified, Your rebate is being processed" for all three. It's still good. Should get it within the month.

I'm still at at qualified with the office depot stuff. one HP rebate is in the 'check will be mailed out soon', 3rd step, while the other is still being processed, which is in the 2nd step.

Has anyone actually received their office depot rebate? its been qualifying for 1.5 months.
 
I just got the rest of my $100 rebates. So I have finally received all rebates totalling $400. Was a sweet deal. Rebates were submitted Aug 31st and exactly two months later, all have finished coming in.

i haven't received any email from them...
