Regarding JacKal's remark:

The post about what another store manager stated made me get that same accommodation agreed to by the manager from the store where I ordered my ZV6000. Had I not done that, a complaint supported only by what was posted on an internet forum would have not have been of much use if the rebate is ultimately rejected by the HP rebate operation. Remember, Office Depot did not set the terms of the rebate, HP did, and HP does not pick up any obligation because OD can't read the fine print. So everyone who is buying these laptops needs to get their store manager to agree up front to make good on the rebate if HP does not honor them. I am surprised that OD has not yet done anything corporate-wide to resolve the mess that they've made -- no change on the 8/30 expiration date on the form, either. So I made sure I got my solution agreed to at the local level before I completed the purchase. I also wrote down the name of the manager and the sales clerk so that I could remember these details should the need arise.

Regarding the $50 expired rebate, I went out and jumped on this deal and they printed out a new rebate that begins on 8/31 (a day after the expired one). Instead of "believing in the power of the green", it's now titled 'seasoned savings'.

thanks for the update, I grabbed the rebate from techdepot.com and adjusted the link on the first post.

If someone needs, they can now download the new rebate, refer to the first post in this topic.

Hey guys just ordered this sucker tonight about 40 minutes ago and thought i'd share my config for those looking for similar configs so they can expect what to pay:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (2 Ghz)
1GB RAM (2x512mb)
80gb 5400rpm hd
Brightview screen
12 cell battery
128mb radeon xpress 200m
54g integrated broadcom wlan + bluetooth
Lightscribe 8x dvd drive
Win XP pro
MS works/money (i actually don't know how this came to be, I thought I got rid of all additional software...oh well...+$10)
deskjet 3847 printer

1080.99 before shipping + tax
$45 shipping + 8.75% CA tax
= grand total of 1220.58

grand total came out to be a little more than I put together in my head (about $100 more >.> I feel slightly cheated...) but hey...still for ~$820 after rebates, not bad for the features...i think anyway..this is my first laptop and it sounds pretty good to me.

Now that I think about it, I think I shouldn't have gone for xp pro and saved myself about $40 *sigh*...damn this buyer's remorse getting me already

BTW a quick question about the HP rebates. I just looked at both the HP rebates for $50 each, and both of them say they require the original UPC/bar code cutout from the products. How am I going to get around this if I want both rebates?

---Sorry my bad, I think the laptop/printer bundle rebate is asking for just the printer UPC code, and the laptop rebate is of course just asking for the laptop code.

Hi All,

I live in Vancouver, Canada and will be visiting a friend in Seattle this long weekend. I would like to get in on this deal, but sometimes it is difficult to order items with my credit card when the delivery address does not match the shipping address.

- Is the payment through credit card on-line or at the OD cashier?
- Do you know which courier company will deliver the laptop?

Thanks in advance.

You pay at OD Cashier..
I paid with my check.(personal check that is)
and yesterday got a email from HP saying they have received the order..

in that mail it shows 'billing address' and 'shipping address'
Billing address had my name with the OD address where I purchased it.
Shipping address had my name with the shipping address that I inputed at the kiosk.

Read the rebates, why don't you?

The HP rebates (2 @ $50 each) are limit one, the OD rebates (3 X $100) are limit three per.

I am really tired of people too lazy to do their own basic research. Do you wipe yourself, or ask for help from the next stall?

When it says 3 rebates / household. That means that particular rebate can be filed three times at most. So will be fine. You can by a third laptop if you want to and you'll be fine.

But the ones that say 1/household, you can only use them one time from your home address.

When did you order, and what configuration? I got bought mine at ~11:30AM EST, specs are somewhere early on in this thread (summarized: A64-3200, 512mb, 128mb ATI, 802.11bg+BT, 12 cell LI battery, XP Pro).

I got my printer very early on, but the laptop is still "in process". Bleh. I had a huge round of proposal writing I could have really used it for this past weekend.

I bought mine the same day as you, but earlier, practically the same config, too. They must be short on Bluetooth, or maybe I'm the last person alive to buy a DVD/CD-RW. *grumble*

Still, this is relatively good news - mine is probably not too far behind.

well, checked again today. Looks like I have qualified for the other two $100 rebates.
Rebate status

Rebates recognized and qualified by Office Depot so far:

1) Select BYO NB w/AMD 64 Processor $100, Qualified, being processed
2) Select BYO HP Pavilion Notebook $100, Qualified, being processed
3) HP Pavilion zv6000 NB Package $100, Qualified, being processed

I believe I sent them on 8/31. I know I'll get the HP rebates. The concern was of the third rebate that was online and not mentioned in the store. But seeing from my status, officedepot is accepting all three rebates for this laptop. wohoo!

3 down, 2 to go.

interesting enough, without any status or anything, as I walk into my house......there it is, my laptop. It had arrived. I've been checking status on it the whole week. But it said it was processing, nothing about shipping. But nevertheless I have it now. Ordered it on 8/30. And got it today.

my $300 rebates are already processing, and now I have to fill out my HP $50 rebates. wohoo!

Interestingly, the _exact same thing_ happened to me. Just popped up out of nowhere. Kinda lame, but at least I live in an apartment building, so the front desk was able to keep it reasonably safe.

I am, on the whole, happy enough with it. It has some weird issues in Linux, and the keyboard isn't as sensitive as I would prefer, but the performance is excellent, and the screen is damned nice. The first thing I did was wipe the disk so I could dual-boot Windows and Linux. The install process is really straight-forward, none of this "let's restore your entire friggin' partition" crap.

for those that dont know. This computer has 256MB on board. This one is underneath the keyboard. So need to remove keyboard for that. The other one is external, so that you can get to with a screw driver.

I'm a little nervous about the HP printer rebate, does anybody have a copy of the store ad? TIA

edit: FWIW ordered on 8/30, got the printer, no joy on the notebook yet
