I guessed wrong. There is absolutely no software shipped. I've got an older PPC2002 disk that shipped with a Toshiba PDA that I have. Would that work to reinstall if needed?
It probably wouldn't have the correct drivers and stuff for Dell-specific features.

You shouldn't have to reinstall the OS anyway - should you? You might be able to purchase the CD from Dell - it may not be cheap though because I think the latest version of Outlook is included.

Just got mine today - that folding keyboard is awesome how it works. It's like a spy-gadget 😀

Definitely. My hat off to the designers and engineers that came up with this slick little gadget.

Now lets see how long it takes my wife to break it. 😱 I bought the setup for her as a graduation present. She's a pharmacist and they rely heavily on pocket pc's for looking up drug info and dosings.

Suppose the extra battery would be nice but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. I checked with those in my office who have this and after using theirs for over a year or so, neither felt it was necessary. As mentioned earlier, supplied Belkin charger / sync cable will recharge the X5 from a USB port (or 12v auto lighter socket) so I just don't see when you would ever be unable to recharge when traveling. Unless you are really into "collect the set" mentality.

Received mine yesterday... shipped on Monday, received Wednesday on the other coast (with ground shipping!) Not too bad! Originally tracking said Friday delivery, then changed to yesterday... must have caught the right flight!

Very happy with the unit. Since there's no CD, you want to be sure to to a full backup of the device to your PC, then you don't need to worry. Burn your backup files onto disk and you should be golden. I backed up again after installing my extra apps like Pocket Streets and such.

Best Buy has a 1 Gb Sandisk SD card this week for $69 AR - got one and have started loading that puppy up. MP3's sound really nice using a decent pair of headphones!

Just wondering.... anyone know if the CF slot will accept a microdrive?

thanks..I got the freecamera..it added a $1 to shipping..have no idea what I will do with it

BTW are you better off with SD for storage or CF

Yes it will. This is basically the same unit as a Toshiba e550g (which I have) and I use a 4GB Microdrive with it just fine 😉
