What did 2003 add over 2002?

windows media plays smoother on the same unit.. i had ppc 2002 and it was so choppy.. after my upgrade.. it was smooth.. better programming..

Anyone know if you can upgrade it to 2003 or maybe an update to the Media Player on it?

Edit: Nevermind....if found the file to upgrade it with.

I had this X5 before and it was great!! Mine did not have a wireless on it...I had to buy a wireless CF card and it worked great with it. I finally sold it off because I just wasn't using it enough.

can these run realvnc or other variations smoothly?

I would think so, but you would need a CF wireless card to connect to the network.

Anyone know if video looks good on this(after installing 2003), or would the new VGA screen look that much better for video? (then again it may not be worth that much more money....nearly 450)

I was thinking of buying this, but can't find any mention of a 2003 upgrade. Where did you find this please?

Thanks,

ian

I bit on this. Considering the quality of the unit and the accessories included, this appears to be a hot deal. Two others in my office have been using these (we are all "road warriors") for over a year and are very pleased. No problems. I am replacing a IPaq which was lost on a plane and didn't want to spend a fortune. This fits my needs very well.

That's a great price. On the Dell Outlet site (refurbs) the price for one with a keyboard is $214-$222. And those are refurb/customer returns. A "basic" unit with no frills or extras (refurb) is $158.
As for the PPC 2003 upgrade, you can do it. My wife hasn't done so on hers but my nephew did with no problems. Not that big a deal but I'm not sure if you'd have to get it through Dell or not. Media plays fine on the wifes PPC 2002 unit. Wireless (w/cf adapter) works great also.

I picked up a refurb axim last year from here. It worked fine and looked great. However, when I entered the service tag # in Dell's site, the item wouldn't show up. The tag came up as a non N. American item...

Anyways, I didn't have a problem with it. Just thought I would share🙂

I bit. Thanks guys.

Note that this ships without the CD though. According to the reviews everything on the CD is loaded apart from the synchronisation software.

Guess I'll have to hunt for that.

??

I didn't notice this but within the product description, it says the "Companion CD is not included". What is that? Is it important?

Usually it's a bunch of programs for the pocketpc, sometimes a copy of Outlook, and ActiveSync.

ActiveSync is a free download from Microsoft. All the software on the CD is loaded onto the PDA already. The only thing you might miss is Outlook, but if you have Office, you probably already have it.

I took the plunge and bought one. Refirbed X5 Advanced's are $158 in the Outlet, so an extra ~20 for the accessories and a new Axim is worth it.
