Hot deal MS Intelimouse Explorer $22

Cheapest on pricewatch is $28 + $6 shipping.

Shipping with directron to atlanta is $5.54 = $27.54

Yes, it's a good deal.

Anyone know if Directron is clearancing Explorer 3.0 mice or just blowing out their remaining stock of 1.0 mice?

That's the magic question I was waiting to get answered in the first thread about these. I would get more than one if it's the 3.0😉

use the coupon code Secret1 to get 5% off orders over $100 at directron.com as well.

so this mouse has no ball in it, does that mean you dont need a mousepad too ?

wondering why someone would get this over the wireless intellimouse explorer

seems like a good deal.

If its a version 1.0 intellimouse explorer, it should come with a lifetime warranty, mine did. A month back my wheel button was sticking down so I called ms, talked to them for like 2 mins and they said they would send me out a new one, no charge and no need to send any back. When I got the new one, it was a version 3.0!! They are no longer sending out version 1.0 to replace version 1.0, they only replace with version 3.0 If you get a version 1.0 just make sure to use it as your primary until it starts sticking or whatever then ask for a new one, you will get a version 3.0 for replacement 🙂

I hate merchant sites that require you to fill out personal information before they give you the shipping details.

This is VERY HOT... if my co-op wasn't ending in a month I'd jump on it for a few friends. For now I'll leave 'good enough' alone, I guess.

Well as stated befor its not a 1.0 its a 3.0 and seems like a hot deal to me. There shipping is decent only cost like $5.00 to ship to Florida and took about 3 days to get here from Texas. So for a total of $27.00 I got a brand new OEM Infared MS Explorer mouse 3.0 were as BIM stores are selling at $49.99 + Tax, big deal I didnt get a box 🙂 I got what I wanted "the mouse"

<< I wonder why some one would get this over a wireless >>

Ummm the price is right 😉 Wireless is $69+ at BIM stores this was $27=$22 in savings over getting the wireless enough to buy another mouse, not to mention batteries

<< So you dont need a mouse pad? >>

Technically not, I still use mine because it has a gel wrist rest, but the unit is completly sealed so one could use on bare desk....

a couple of you guyz mentioned these are new...if i read the web site desc correctly, these are used. they are used mice pulled from [oem] machines and are being sold with a warranty. or am i wrong? are they new, just oem?

There just sys pulls there OEM , mine was sealed new in a bag, it has a part number:

ArbPart:
| | |||||| |||||| ||| |||| 1H948
MSE,USB,4BTN,WHL,3.0A,MS

Dunno if that helps or not.....

If you visit the MS site it says the intelimouse comes with a lifetime warranty. It doesn't further restrict it.

I've personally used MS warranty to get my mouse replaced, it was VERY easy and the best warranty service of any company I've called before. I called and said it wasn't working (the middle mouse button was sticking), they said whats the serial number thingy and they sent me one right out, no return on the old one. Of course the MS warranty and support sucks on most other items, but for the mouse its great.

I'm guessing about the pull thing that they are grabbed from new systems that haven't been used yet, perhaps because customer wants to upgrade, I dunno.

Don't you guys who've use the 1.0 mouse find the new 3.0 moust a little small? That's the main reason I'm sticking with my 1.0.

Small? I havent noticed the mouse to be "Small" I have huge hands and this mouse feels right to me. Ive used these mice here and there since there interduction and I haven't noticed any size difference, but again I didn't use them on a daily basis till I got this one, mainly used at shows, friends etc...

comp usa has the intellimouse optical for 29 and i assume you can use the 10 mir to bring it down to 19.99.

<< Devistater, what number did you call to get a new one? My 1.0 has a short in the cable :-/ >>

I don't remember off hand... I think it was in the documentation for the mouse. Some number for technical service or warranty stuff... now that I think of it it seems like it was long distance.

Ah yes, a quick search on microsoft's web site reveals it. I just picked support on the top, then a link on the left says contact microsoft, then by phone. Then I picked intellimouse explorer. Let me quote from it:

<< If you purchased this product at a retail store, you are eligible for 90 days of no-charge Personal support (beginning the first time you contact a Personal Support Professional) by phone or online. Personal Support is designed to provide support for everyday product usage to help U.S. consumers, home users and home office customers using Microsoft consumer products.
(425) 635-7040 (long distance charges may apply)
>>

So its no charge, but it IS a long distance number. I think I spent about 3 minutes on hold and about 5 mins with the guy (most of which was telling him my address to send the replacement to). He never asked where I got it, the only thing he asked was what was the serial number (I think they call it something like product identification number) on the bottom of the mouse. Quick, easy, and painless. No charge for anything, and the new version 3 mouse even came in retail packaging! So, only charge is the long distance call 🙂 That was about 50 cents for me, pretty good deal I'd say 🙂

<< Don't you guys who've use the 1.0 mouse find the new 3.0 moust a little small? That's the main reason I'm sticking with my 1.0. >>

Nope, I thought I might at first since I have fairly big size hands, and it took maybe a day or so to get used to it in Counter Strike, but I find that I like it just as well as the old one... now that I think about it I think I like it a little better actually. Just wait until your version 1.0 wears out, then get a new one for free from MS and see for yourself 🙂 They dont even ask you to send back the old one.

I did a quick search on the hardware forum, found a thread where 3 other ppl got thier MS intellimouse mice replaced:

I just received the two I ordered (one for a spare). It's a very nice mouse for the price. I was using the intellimouse non-optical. I've used the optical versions also. I gave them away with computers I built for family members. These are worth the extra few bucks over the intellimouse optical. It's taking some time to get used to holding it in my hand, but the fit is about right. I might wish the side buttons were a bit lower and further back, but then they would get hit more often by mistake.
