BOBF: Well that is the kicker I guess...The shipping for the case, hard drive and a video card was $43 UPS ground. I was a bit taken aback by that!

I just like their prices a lot (software and hardware).

I would have gotten an 830 (cheaper) but it was too high for the armoire.

Ken,

I can relate to those shipping costs. I almost bought the Tiger Direct "Blaster PC" when it was $30 after a $100 banking "rebate". The shipping quote for that was $46 which stopped me in my tracks. By the time I found out that such a charge was not uncommon I had already decided to build my own PC from the ground up.

I do recall seeing an 830 and thinking that it was very tall. It's 20.6" tall. My Enlight is a bit shorter at 16.7". (Full Tower vs. Mid Tower?) But I guess you can stuff a lot of hardware in an 830!

Flyfish,

When did you order? I talked to a cs this morning, and he said all the orders will be filled, they just do not know when they are getting them.

If anything, We've got until the 21st to mail the rebate. The new rebate for says purchases up to dec 6 for the rebate. So if the we get it by the 21st we're in good shape. My CS, PAt, said that there were over 400+ on backorder and to try calling on Monday to see the status. I don't think I'm getting one. Flyfish, out of curiosity did theyt charge you shipping? I think the one who did get charge shipping will be the ones to get the case now.

I ordered mine on Thursday, November 29, 2001 at 6:52 PM. Yes, I had to pay shipping and tax :( . I called in my order, but my Uncle ordered online. He had to pay tax too.

I spoke with an Outpost.com customer service rep on Friday noon. He said they expect to receive additional merchandise by Fri Dec 7th and that it should satisfy their outstanding orders.

However I'm concerned that my shipment won't arrive in time to meet the rebate criteria which stipulates that rebate requests must be postmarked within 15 days of purchase.

Is there any chance that Antec will extend the rebate deadline or change the rebate conditions so that requests must be postmarked within 15 days of receipt of product?

For those with this item on back order regarding the requirement that rebate reqests must be postmarked within 15 days of purchase:

I've been in touch with customer service at Outpost.com and they can't promise if they'll be able to deliver my order in time to meet this requirement. The Outpost folks suggested that I contact Antec to see if they'll change the rebate terms to something like "postmark the rebate request within 15 days of the product shipment".

I'll let you folks know what, if anything, I hear from Antec.

<< I'm not buying anything else from Outpost.com because they never paid me the $100 rebate for two IBM Web CAM's I bought over 6 month's ago! :(:disgust::| >>

I had a problem with an outpost.com rebate and after I spoke with customer service and faxed in copies of all my rebate info, they posted a credit to my credit card for the rebate amount.

You ought to give it a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right!!??

Just got the telephone, after having about ten minutes conversation with an Antec-Inc. CS rep. The rep checked out the deal on outpost.com website. Afterward, he assured me that Fry/Outlook is an authorize reseller of their products and this is legit. The rep stated that I'm getting a good deal.

I did get info on the 510 power supply, which will be setup to power the more expensive Tyan's Thunder K7 motherboard. While Antec is soon to receive a supply of 510, sales are on hold, until UL testing is completed. The MSRP is right under $130.00. For those that can't wait, NMB does sell a few power supplies like the 510, except the warranty is shorter.

Did the Antec CSR mention what would happen with the rebates for those folks that don't get their case before the rebate window closes?

Bob

Honestly, I never did bring up about the rebate. My impression that the rebate is not through Antec; but instead through each authorize reseller. Similiar to a few of the memory and harddrive rebates. You may want to call 1-800-390-2344, which is the phone number on the rebate form.
