Sadly, cankles seem to be a recurring theme with most goth chick singers. That said, I pick the chick from Evanescence.

OK, I just want to say first of all, that all this grunty/growly crap doesn't do it for me, at all.
That being said, I'm going to judge these women based entirely on their looks. Since I love Amy Lee and Evanescence, they are right out, because I would've voted for them anyway. Among what's left, all the brunettes look the same to me. The redheads, on the other hand, really stand out. I voted Simone because she's natural (that french group lead's color is way too vibrant to be real).
Oh yea, I am downloading a few tracks here and there from this thread, so I can see if there's any real singing, not this RAWRAWRAWRAWR crap you're all talking about.

No, they shouldn't, but that's all the exposure most people have. I must admit, that's where the very idea that chicks could sing in a rock group came from for me. Doesn't mean they don't suck, because they do, but heh.
You won't find much of that up there, really. The people invoking that are generally death metal converts and death metal zealots.
I love Lacuna Coil and Evanescence. I find a few of the women in your list very attractive, but in all honesty I wouldn't want any of them. I like my women "normal". 
Just want to say that voice-wise, the girl from Theatre of Tragedy has everyone else beat. I love her voice, especially in Cradle of Filth's Nymphetamine. Melanie Wills has an even better voice, but she's more indie rock than metal, although she did the guest vocals for some From Autumn to Ashes songs. Angela Gossow of Arch Enemy is very impressive, but I wouldn't exactly call her voice soothing.
Tarja Turunen definately has the best voice, verry close to Amy Lee though. I think Nightwish has a better sound than Evanescence but they are still pretty different.

Yeah, at least this crew 'vents' in music.
The thing that makes 'normal' women worse is that they are just as dysfunctional - BUT DON'T KNOW IT! So, you get bizarre mood swings and sharp opinion changes that even THEY can't explain.
