The rebate is on the product page and at the store.

$199.98 + .02 Extras
- 50.00 Coupon
- 50.00 MIR
_______
$99.98 for the Printer

Valid online, B+M, phone.

Just bought one at lunch today at B+M. Gonna try and go back and get TechDepot PM and just add some photo paper to get over the $200 limit. Printable $50.00 off $200 purchase coupon says nothing about reproductions or originals only.

I picked one of these up today. This is my first non-Epson printer in 18 years. The heads on my Epson were clogged beyond repair. I really don't do color printing anymore since the photo labs can do it cheaper, so I have a question to those who have this printer. To me the colors seem to be on the dull side. I've tried several different photo quality papers (but have yet to use the Canon glossy I have somewhere). The reviews were favorable, but so were the reviews on the Canon D1250U2 scanner, and I'm not impressed with that either. My old FB630U does a better job. Am I expecting too much from this printer?

u will not regret it the photo quality is so good you wont be able to tell the difference with chemical photos

I'm having some trouble finding the "Photo Paper Pro" paper locally. But I did find it online at buy.com -- for a very nice price:

$6.07 with free shipping for the 4x6 twenty card pack.

I couldn't find the $50 off $200 coupon, and the only link to the $30 gift card deal seemed to be expired. Is this deal dead? I guess I missed it when it first showed up.

Amazon has it for $130 less $50 rebate, but $16 shipping (no sales tax) = 96 - use a $5 coupon (I had a $15 one from before Christmas) making it $91.

Staples will be $199 PLUS TAX less $50 less $50 = about $110 for me.

Some people claim to PM Staples to the Amazon price and then use $20 off coupon or $30 off or something. Never works for me becuase Staples adds shipping to the PM and then charges sales tax ta boot. If you work at it you might get a better deal frm Staples, but $91 with no work is pretty good deal. PM'ers get better deals then me 🙂

CNET Review is HERE

Good deal until I saw the i850 at Sam's Club for $148 then take away $30 for the Canon rebate...

Check the user reviews on cNet here. Ignore the cNet review, look at the 162 people's reviews that own it.

Peace!

The i850 is a 4 color printer, the S820 is a six color printer. The S820 is a better value, and maybe a better printer, even though the i850 is a newer model.

The $30 gift card is for spending $150 instore.
It expires on 12/28.
Find at the service desk, cashier, or ask for it.

The 820 is a photo printer. the i850 is newer, 4800 dpi, very fast, more all around printer. Quality will rival the 820. When Canon comes out with their 6 color i series printer they will blow everything else away in the photo departmnet.

This is a very nice printer. 4x6 photos come out as good as real photos. Although if you leave pictures out in the light they will fade.

Staples has reduced their price to $129.98 this morning. No price match necessary anymore and you can find applicable coupons at the Obese wallet forums.

i'm tempted to buy a second one just for the print head in case mine dies... only $50/60 AR if i can find a 30/20 off 100 coupon.... hell, even for $60, i get a brand new set of ink carts too!

damn, too bad it's out of stock

Well I don't know squat about color printers but my wife picked me up an i850 from sam's club for christmas so I've been doing a little studying and actual printing on the i850.

But 6 colors vs 2pl drops aside:

The prints from the i850 are unfrickin believable. Could not be more happy and the sam's club price combined with the rebate beats the "street price" listed on canon's web site by $70. A hot deal on a great printer.

Not a bad job by my non-techy non-deal wife.

The actual print quality is outstanding, especially considering that it only uses three colors. For the majority of the non-professional uses out there the i850 will be all the printer they need to make photo-quality prints at home. I put a print from my Canon S9000 next to an i850 print and you can see a difference, but it isn't all that much. It's amazing what Canon has been able to do with those 5pl and 2pl size ink droplets to make up for the missing photo cyan and photo magenta inks. And the i850 prints better B&W prints than my S9000, this caught me completely by surprise.

I think you just sold me on a i850.....have you compared it to HPs printers at all? Where is the best deal on one of these right now?

Thanks

Check this write-up on the i850 in PC Magazine...

PC Mag review of i850

Don't listen to the 6 ink vs 4 ink naysayers... I practically do digital photography for a living and unless your prepared to go into the thousands of dollars for a printer you won't do better than this one. Output is spectacular and supplies are as cheap and easy as can be! Heck, it even eats Epson Matte Photo paper like a champ!!

Thanks, how much is the ink and how much ink is in the cartridges?

Yes. You made a great choice with the i850.

And the S820 is a photo printer. It's much slower than the i850. Don't buy it if you want an all around printer, buy the i850.

There is a lot of discussion on General hardware about printers. Anyone needs convincing, go there.

I have the Epson photo 750 and have had it for a number years. It's great for a older printer. I do mainly photo's. Ordered the 820 and also the I850 from Dell when they had their deals going. Cancelled the 820 and received the I-850. Man what a difference is speed. Great prints for photo's and general text. Compaired it with the Epson 750 on photo's. The750 had a smidge more detail on some pictures, buy not that much difference and besides it printed edge to edge. Just excellent. I wished I had gotten the 820 too just to compaire em, but didn't. I think over all the I-850 is probably on of the best overall printers around. Sold it to neighbor and am still using the Epson. The price I ended up paying after rebate was $138 from DELL. Probably will look at changing out the Epson again since the price of the I-850 is a little cheaper. That's my 2Cents.🙂

Do you guys know if you need to keep this (S820) printer "on" all the time? The reason I ask is because my Canon Multipass C3500 must stay "on" or the ink dries out/print head clogs (there isn't even an on/off switch) and I'm wondering if the same is true with this printer.

Thanks.
