Anyone know if I can buy this item now at full retail price and then return it on sunday to have the price adjusted? Does compusa have such a policy?

yep 14 days Low Price Garuntee @ Compusa only

Just another note. Most stores I am guessing will not be getting additional stock in for this sale, at least mine isn't. As other have said, they are probably clearing it out for the deluxe edition. So don't wait around until friday next week to get it.

the ad states

$50-$30 instant savings = $20

mods yes, expansions no
road to rome and secret weapons will be out for you.
you can play any mod such as desert combat which i pointed out before.

The thing you need to considder though, is that desert combat can be played on top of road to rome or secret weapons (this puts modern soldiers/weapons/vehicles in the rtr or SW maps). You will not be able to play on these servers as they will require a key for the expansion.

one more thing, lots of people are still running plain old 1942 without any expansions, there will be no shortage of servers to play on

If anyone plays the original multiplayer demo and runs across a player named : ), thats me, make sure to say hi and i will take it easy on you when I defgun you to oblivion

This is a great deal. EA are really price gauging with their games. I am going to buy another copy since my brother lost one of the CDs. If I ever have to reinstall it and I don't have that CD, I am screwed.

IF you have two copies of BF 1942:
if you only lost the disk but still have the cd key, why would you need another copy? I have two copies installed on two different computers. They will both accept either disk 1 or disk 2 for launching. As long as you have two legitimate cd keys you should be okay.

IF you only have one: as long as you have a legitimate CD key, this is a perfect example of when it should be ok to download an ISO from your favorite file sharing utility.

For all asking why this game is so fun, here's why...

It's a fun FPS set in WWII era. The thing that distinguishes it from most other FPSes is that you can operate every vehicle in the game, whether it be a jeep, tank, plane, motorcycle, assault boat, aircraft carrier, or whatever... Not only can you drive or steer these vehichles, but you can also ride in them while someone else is driving or steering. The controls for doing this are very intuitive, and they have an very "arcade-y" feel as opposed to being a simulation. Okay... not only can you drive/steer/ride, but you can also shoot while you're doing it... steer the carrier while you man the big gun, your buddy mans the other gun, and other teammates man the machine guns and anti-artiliary guns. Man the machine gun on the assault boat as your teammate steers you and several others in for a beach landing. Drive the tank and fire the big cannon while your friend watches your back with the machine gun mounted on top.

Classes are also supported in the game and are nicely balanced as far as weapons and skills. The soldier is the best and easiest to use, and basically just shoots and blows stuff up with grenades. The medic can help heal other players. The engineer can lay mines and det packs, but can also repair vehicles and mounted weapons. The sniper can do the usual snipey thing. In this respect, it is very much like the free Wolfenstein game, however, in 1942 you can at any time pick up a dead player's pack and switch to that class of player!

It's friendly to noobs because when you respawn in the game (which you do at various intervals after you're killed), you're usually in a fairly safe spawn point and you have some time to go take cover or find a vehicle or whatever.

Play usually consists of maps that have several bases (which are also the spawn points). Your team tries to coordinate fighting to take over those bases while the enemy does the same. Each team has "tickets" or points, and the less bases you currently have, the faster those tickets count down in relation to the other team's tickets. So, you have to strategically expand and hold most of the map at any given time. First one with no tickets left loses! There are also other modes of the game, include CTF.

Road To Rome is an expansion pack that moved the action from the Pacific to Africa and Europe and added some new weapons.

Secret Weapons is an expansion pack that has a bunch of new vehicles that are a stretch for WWII, but very fun to play with. These include a jetpack, some experimental planes, some amphibious vehicles, an anti-aircraft gun mounted on a tank, a machine gun mounted on a motorcycle sidecar, etc...

Well worth the money! Lots and lots of hours of entertainment at any price! Highly recommended!

You can no longer PM and use the gamer's gift card at BB. I tried it last week, and their new computer software doesn't accept it.

This game is online only, right? I saw the ad and considered getting it cause I heard it was fun, but I am currentlly on dial up, so if its online only, I will hold off. But if it has a non online part to it, then I may get it and play for a while until I get broadband.

i think anyone would pricematch.

and you can play offline, but the bots aren't too great. its still fun, but there is no true single player story mode or anything.

FPS fans, buyer beware!

A while back I had to break my CD so I wouldn't stay up until 4AM playing.

I might get this. 😉
