All you people picking this up for cheap: please don't be a retard online, there's already enough idiots making my playtime miserable.

You've got to kidding... The influx of noobs will make this game even more hilarious than it already is. I'm the one driving the jeep from one end of the map to the other with my head bobbing back and forth 😀

Does this deal end this weekend, or will it be going on Monday as well? I couldnt go this weekend but I might be able to go tomorrow.

Would it be just better to wait for the bundle that comes with the expansion too?

I don't think so. road to rome is only 20 normally, so 20 + 20 is less than the deluxe version anyway. i bought road to rome, and it was 2 weeks before i even was in a game that used one of the maps from it. i think i have played on the rtr maps less than 10 times total.

I don't believe it. I could see the Secret Weapons of WWII expansion being on sale sunday for $20, but I doubt the regular BF 1942 will be at this price.

Do you have any scans of this, pkananen?

No scans needed, is starting today, sale is today. Looks like they have Battlefield 1942 for $20, and Secret Weaps for $20. Dang good price for 1942, its been out over a year and still pretty impossible to find it for less than $40 or $50. EA likes to keep prices way too high.

BTW this price is INSTANT sale, NO REBATES!!

For those who say that this is to clear stock for deluxe, I dont think thats the case. My compusa had a huge amount of these boxes (probably 30 at least). I think its just to advertise that they have Secret Weaps expansion and the game all at $20 each.

Also even though the web site at compusa says sold out, type in your zipcode to check local store. I'm thinking they want people to get it at thier local B&M, and not go order it online.

As for waiting for the bundle deluxe edition, its going to be MORE than $40, and it will only include Road to Rome not secret weaps. So no, cheaper to get 1942 for $20 and find RTR for $20 as well somewhere.

Thanks for the great deal! Got a PM from Best Buy but they wouldn't honor the $5 off Gamer's Card coupon. Oh well... now I have an extra coupon sitting around for when I need it.

They need to make a GotY edition of BF1942 and lock it at this price point. For 19.99 I might pick up another copy just for the license. Plus with a GotY edition you could score it @ BB with the 5 off coupon for 14.99. Desert Combat is a FREE expansion pack, as I view it 🙂 Who needs the others?

The Best Buy in Orlando, FL simply called the local CompUSA. I didn't have to take the ad in but if you do it might be easier.

I bought BF1942 the day it came out as well as RTR. I've had plenty of problems since then none of which were insurmountable until now. I simply cannot play it. It asks for a CD that is should see but doesn't. It appears to be a problem with XP, Nforce2 boards and the patches 1.4 and 1.5. It's great having spent so much money for a game that right now I can't even play.

I used a CD crack to get it going for version 1.4 but unless there are now some floating around out there for 1.5 also (last time I checked there weren't) I'm stuck playing the SW demo to get my BF fix in.

Don't get me wrong I think this is the most fun computer game ever made and is truly digital crack. I've wasted many hours and sleepless nights playing. Rather frustrating to shell out my money for a game that the maker won't fix all of the problems with. I've seen others with the same issue on other forums so I know I am not an isolated case.

Unless I can get my issues worked it it certainly makes little sense to go pick up the SW expansion when I can't play it! Too bad because it's great fun in the demo.

i read a similar thread on planetbattlefield. i guess you can't use any virtual drives with the new patch. don't know the full details though.

$16.99 after PM at BB.

Thanks pkananen!

Is that at a B&M store or online price matching?

How did you get it that low?

Has anyone tired PMing at Staples with their 120% best price match policy?

B&M PM. Purchased for $49.99 at BB then walked over to CS desk and PM'd to CUSA (I showed the CSR the CUSA sale flyer). BB 110% PM policy brought the price down to $16.99.

Good luck.

PanzerIV: I got my copy working (yes I bought it) using Alcohol 120% 1.4.6, had the same problem said insert CD bla bla bla, Fsck EA.

It didnt need the copy protection anyway you need a real CD key to play online

10 more in stock at the Amherst, NY Compusa.

I got there when the shelf was empty and I'm like. DOH. Then in comes the store clerk with a tray full of them.

Anyone tried using the "Gamer's Gift Card" at BestBuy to knock another $5 off?

Yeah, I tried, but the lady wouldn't let me. I believe some others in this thread had better luck though.

Aaargh! I've been waiting to find a decent price on this and now it's out of stock. That's what I get for not checking the boards all weekend. Unfortunately the nearest CompUSA is over 90 miles away so BB won't pm. I hope they get more in before the sale ends. For those that bought online, how much was shipping?
