they just had raven shield rs3 and splinter cell for FAR last week, probably is for real... don't see why not...

I am thinking about buying a second one so I can play across my LAN -- I assume it checks the CD Key and it won't let me do my own server and play with a friend at the comptuer next to me unles I have another full install of the game ?

I normally favor the single-player portions of FPS games - will I enjoy this game? I have broadband but most of my multiplayer experience is very short lived - average lifespan of about 20 seconds before I'm shot/blown-up/burnt/sniped etc.

Will BF1942 be the same, or is it easier to participate as a non-elite player?

It depends on the server. The good thing about that, is there are TONS of servers. There are alite servers and noobie servers.

I am ussually a single player oriented FPS guy myself, but I love 1942

For LAN play it isn't necessary. You just need to have a CD in the drive (unless you get CD crack). I just went to a LAN party a couple weeks ago and used my buddy's BF1942 to install, then I used disc 2 to play. For online play, yes, you will need your own key.

Gah. I just purchased last night from BB for $35... guess a PM will be in order this weekend. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah, if this is $20 and you have not played it yet. GET IT. THe best FPS I have ever played, period.

Dont expect a good single player experience, its not meant for that. THe single player is horrible, since the AI of the computer isnt exactly stellar. If you love multiplayer experiences though, bf1942 has to be up there as one of the absolute best. Forget CS, it just doesnt compare.

EA wanted to be nice. LAN games dont check keys, or at least didn't with the 1.40 patch, 1.45 JUST came out, so im not so sure of that anymore

110%, so ~$33 back ($49.99 @ CC)

Maybe best buy too, price match and gamer's card coupon

If you're a n00b what you really don't want to do is fly the air-planes. What a total PITA that is. My advice: learn how to use a tank.

This is a great game and there are tons of crappy players out there (myself included). I bought this on Monday for $40

Anyone know if I can buy this item now at full retail price and then return it on sunday to have the price adjusted? Does compusa have such a policy?
