Argh. Well I waited until the morning and it seems that they ran out of the EL 460 . I was told by my friend that this sub is only needed if you plan to run upgraded speakers otherwise it's no benefit to get an amp for the speakers. In any case I just purchased 5 of the 12"er's for $10 each. Just a warning, there are only 3 left! Also purchased the EL1500 to hook them up too. This is a hot deal!!!! Thanks collector!!! This site gets my vote and I better make sure to keep my eye out on them like everyone says to see what other deals pop up by Nov. 30th.

for the be-all and end-all of informations sources for the basics of car audio (esp. VERY specific info about specific car models!), there's no other place than Crutchfield. Read through the Car Audio section of the "Info Center" first, then check "What fits my car?".

FYI your Stratus's original speakers canNOT be replaced by the subs in this deal! To add a sub, you need the sub itself, a box/enclosure for it, and an amplifier. Some manufacturers offer all of that in one piece. Whatever you buy, you still have to connect it to both 1) your existing car stereo and 2) the battery of your car, so the amplifier can get power.

i do, a 5lbs and a 10lbs NOS tanks. hooking up a system is pretty easy!!! my setup in my car is: Pioneer double din headunit, 4 polk audio 6.5 3way speakers, 2 12inch round Kicker soloberic subs in a isobaric box, 1 8in bazooka tube(so that my system can hit the mid to high bass levels),1 Rockford fosgate 2000 model 600@6 amp, and a Rockford fosgate 2000 model 800@2 amp. the reason why im using the 8in bazooka is because the 2 12's and the isobaric box produces the "boomy bass." so it couldnt really hit the mid to high bass levels.
i wouldnt mind giving you guys that do not know how to installing car audio systems the basics. but if i were to really type it all out, i think you guys would still not understand. just remember, get the right fuse for the power wire. you wanna keep the power fuse/holder no more than 12in away from the cars battery. the reason for the fuse is if there's a short somewhere in the setup then i really dont think you wanna find out what happens if there is a short in setup, with out a power wire fuse. well if you guys have any questions on how to set it up, set the gain/eq/cross over levels, what level wires should be used, type of box for the type of speakers in your setup, etc. then email me and i will try my best to help. its really not that hard at all. the way i learned was i had bought a new headunit for my car and asked my older brother if he can install it. he then went in the house without saying a word, came back with a manual on the wire diagrams. so then i installed the headunit with the manual he gave me. when i was done connecting all the wires and mounting the headunit, to my surprise it turned on with no errors!!!! so if u know how to do that then you will get the whole concept of the car audio system. but i suggest reading up on the type of wires you shoud use(power,speaker,ground,and remote.) also what size fuse you should use. By the way, nice prices!!!! one more thing, those NOS tanks were not used to help the performance of my car!!!

All the box details are in the manual, which I am guessing somebody will post some info from before any new orders could be delivered. The spec on the EL 1204 was something like .83 sealed and 2.0 ported in cubic feet. I keep hoping they will put a few more items in this sale, I mean basically nothing else on the site looks good, and they still have lots on ebay that vary in cost, but all have shipping.

just curious about how your subs were packaged....

mine came in original box, and seemed to be all original packing....EXCEPT!!!............

the sub was placed in the cardboard frame, and had a plastic protector plate over it, BUT, i'm assuming when returnbuy packed it to ship it to me, they put bubble wrap BETWEEN the sub and the protector plate....there for, the rubber surround is creased where the bubble wrap applied pressure....in 3 or 4 places

now i'm not TOTALLY sure, but i have a good feeling that would damage the sub.....i am letting it sit open and see if it returns to its original state, but i have a feeling i have a damaged sub now.....if anyone could comment on my situation i would greatly appreciate it

I stopped by Circuit City today, picked up my 110% price matched AOTC for $9 and something, then checked out all the car stuff, especially the Bazooka stuff. CSW is the cheap line, and I didn't see any, but the EL 1204 sure kicked. All the amps were quite impressive too, enough so that I just bought another one from Buyreturn.

Digusting watching the sales "help" at CC. Some poor smoe walks in and the guy proceeds to convince him that you need to match the amp to the power rating of the sub, ie 300 watt sub much have a 300 watt or higher amp. The guy ended up with a $459 MTX amp and a box with two Alpine 10"s. The good part is that when the sales guy walked away the demo system was still working so I could do my own little comparison. The Bazooka EL2150 and EL1204 in a small sealed wedge box sounded much better to me, lower, louder, more articulate, and even at CC prices half the price of the system the guy bought. It was pathetic this guy was young, but clearly a working adult, and he let the CC salesdude just walk him through the purchase without selecting or trying ANY choices on his own.

well, obviously a creased surround isn't good for the sub, but I don't know if it's a big enough deal to warrant shipping a $10 sub back. As long as the driver can still move back and forth smoothly, and you don't hear anything strange when you hook it up, and the surround is still firmly attached to the frame and the driver, I'd say don't worry about it. Surrounds traditionally wear out or rot (esp. foam ones) and there are plenty of kits available that allow end-users to re-foam their speakers. You just have to carefully scrape the old surround off, and glue the new one in place. So this is a repair that can be easily and inexpensively conducted by you in your home.... I'd say it's not worth it to ship back a heavy sub that only cost $10 in the first place..

I'm not a pro or anything, but I can tell you that my home speakers have old, rotted-out foam (that's the worst place... the rest of the surround on that speaker is intact but somewhat crumbly) and I can't hear any ill effects. I know that the bass response is probably somewhat limited, and I can hear some 'chuffing' when I turn it up WAY loud, but for casual listening I can't notice it at all. I'll probably re-foam those sometime.... just one of things I've been putting off.

from what my roommate told me, to get the optimal base, you need 1.75ft^3 each. This is quite a bit of space, i think im just gonna make 1ft^3 box for each

I ordered the EL2150 and EL460. Crutchfield is selling them at $350 a piece but Crutchfield always overprice their stuff. I'm going to hook up the front and rear speaker with amp instead of the built-in amp from the receiver.

From what I have seen its .83 for a sealed, and 2.0 for a ported box, but you REALLY should use the actual parameters of the driver. Box size and stuffing make HUGE differences in the frequency response. I called a few smaller local places and found nice looking sealed carpet over 3/4" MDF enclosures for like $25, another $25 for a cable kit (power and a set of rca's run to the back of the car), and about $50 to do the install.

The amps are more like $190 each at Circuit City, one or two maybe closer to $160. What makes the "value" much harder to determine is that CC and many other places will include FREE installation on car audio purchases over $100 (not including wire harness type items which cost plenty, ie two at $35 for a CD player I just bought).

I can't seem to stay away from this place, just went back and ordered a 10" woofer so I can pick and choose between it and the 12" I ordered last week. (smaller box with a 10")

I am still curious, anybody get their order free yet, 100th order?
