Isn't lack of BD playback software kind of big deal?
If brand name isn't important, Amazon is selling LITE-ON (iHOS104) drives for the same price, and it's sold by Amazon so it ships free and tax free.

I am pissed at Lite-on. I bought an $100 blu ray player from them that they no longer provide firmware updates for. With the constantly changing Blu-ray standards that means I can no longer play any Blu ray movies released this year and a good number of movies released after last July. I know they've done this with other drives as well
that's certainly good to know. I liked them because their DVD drives can revert to RPC-1 (at one point I buy a lot of region 2 disks)I am pissed at Lite-on. If you have ripping software, yeah.Do these drives allow you to rip BD movies?

I'm pretty sure that it can't on its own. You'd need a decrypter like AnyDVD HD, wouldn't you?Yes, MPC Home Cinema will play bluray
included software is usually PowerDVD which I do not like.
