They had wifi! I had to use a proxy to get around the filter though, lulz. Plus I was downloading torrents, and the hospital has surprisingly low bandwidth even though I was on the guest network.

We have a pretty fat pipe at the hospital where i work, but we throttle to 1mb for guests

People go to the emergency room when they're situation isn't an emergency? I've never been to an emergency room (haven't had the need to).

Go visit any of the hospital emergency rooms in the Sacramento area. Odds are, a large percentage will be Hispanics...just there to see a doctor, not for "emergency" care.

Of course, many emergency rooms double as "Urgent Care" facilities, so in a way, they invite the non-emergency cases...although, Juan or Juanita, or Billy or Jane having a cold should not qualify for "urgent care." That's what general practitioners are supposed to be for...when they'll accept new patients...or if they'll take Medi-Cal.

Couldn't a good portion of that be done by a triage nurse?

Yes it could. However, hospitals would be scared to death to do that. Lawsuits are killing the hospitals as is, could you imagine the chaos if someone that really did need medical care got turned away because a nurse thought they were fine? The hospital would have to put higher culpability on nurses (at least triage nurses) than they now have, and I don't know if they would be willing to do that.

The other problem enters in at a state level. Above and beyond the federal "patient dumping" bill.

Things (at least in health care) would go so much more smoothly if people were less litigious.

Oh - I forgot, while I was in the ER, the guy across the hall from me, they were asking him questions, "do you feel like you want to hurt yourself" , "do you hear voices" , and "what are the voices telling you?"

I couldn't hear the guy but I saw him he was ~60 and ~5'.

Nurse was asking questions loud lol.

And the only reason I went to the ER is because my doctor said to if I didn't get better.

i count any hospital visit that you didn't end up in the morgue, a successful hospital visit.

Did you have to eat hospital food?
You might laugh, but the hospital by my house that I go to has great food and it's all set up like room service for like 18 hrs. out of the day, you call in an order over the phone and they bring it you. The other six hours, midnight to 6am, they still have room service, but it's an abbreviated menu.

Hospital maxed out at like 150 kb/s on my torrents x), though it was half because I had some shitty proxies.
