LOCHBUIE - The flyer says a horse owner needs help finding executioners. He wants people to come to his property and help gun down 24 horses.

The Weld County Sheriff's Office says the flyer is being passed around the county by 64-year-old Trenton Parker.

According to the sheriff's office, Parker is upset because he faces a 90-day jail sentence for contempt of court because he didn't clean up his property, which is at County Roads 8 and 35 north of Lochbuie.

He was first ordered to remove converted mobile homes from his property on Dec. 31, 2007 and the sheriff's office says he hasn't. .....

What an idiot. Ever thought of selling the horses/giving them away for a small sum? He'd make a lot more money than hiring people to gun them down.

Obviously the best way to gain sympathy for your plight is to publicly stab your horses in the gut before bashing their brains in.

I guess he got what he was looking for. Would you have ever heard of his code enforcement plight had he not pubically sent out the flyers to kill his horses? Do you think he's REALLY going to kill the horses? Use your head here.

horses are going very cheap around here. we used to have a horse factory. where they would slaughter the horses and ship the meat overseas. but the county closed it down and banned such practice. so now older horses are going for very little.

i never understoodn the problem. people eat horses. big fucking deal.

In a dispute between two parties, I'm less likely to believe the one that looks like an unbalanced nutcase. "Any publicity is good publicity" probably doesn't apply in this case.

If they are shot and killed by one shot what's the big deal? They are his animals and he can do with them as he pleases, as long as it is cruel. Charging animal cruelty for putting down a horse is fucking stupid.
All that meat you eat was alive at somepoint and someone killed it. Hope you don't like crab or fish. Crab are alive when proccessed. Fish are gutted and beheaded when alive or does your compassion for an animal only go as far as how cute the animal is?

"... NHRA heard about the flyer on Tuesday and says it's making an effort to "stop the slaughter."

The National Hot Rod Association is getting involved now?

;)

I think it was more the part about stabbing pregnant mares in the gut to kill the foal then bashing their heads in.

If you see no difference between that and gutting a fish, then I'm not sure what to say.

Not sure what the real story is, but it says he was ordered to remove converted mobile homes... perhaps he converted them into shelter for the horses? That would make the story a little more logical. I've seen people convert semi-trailers into storage sheds.

its actually kinda ironic. they shut it down because it was inhuman to the horse's (even though we have plenty of hog and cow farms). Now that people can't give/sale the horses to the meat processing plant they are stuck with them or trying to sell them.

So the price of horse's are dirt cheap. but nobody wants them and the cost of feed has gone up. so guess what is happening? if you guess people are letting the horses starve or go free you are right.

The problem is that if you shoot it that's probably going to be charged as animal cruelty. If you let the horse starve it's also animal cruelty. If you take them to the vet, it costs about 100 bucks to put one down, then it costs about 3-400 to have it disposed of. One of the horse traders here told me he doesn't dare leave the place unattended because every time he does he has people sneak a few into his corral and then he has to pay to get rid of them. He has no good way because its illegal to ship them to Canada or Mexico to have them killed at a factory. Basically if you have a horse you're stuck with it until it dies or you find another sucker to sell it to. Kind of like a real life white elephant.

Probably more to this story. Frequently, small town city halls and county gov't types can be real pricks. Whatever happened to letting people do what they want with their own damned land, so long as they're not hurting anyone and paying their taxes.
