horrible car accident in germany

Sorry to hear. But those trees and light and telephone poles will win out and demolish just about all cars.

That car was easily doing 140+. That is just insane damage. I've seen a lot of wrecks in the ~100mph range, and the carnage in those pics is vastly exceeding that.

Why anyone would buy a BMW coupe is beyond me. They are notorious for splitting in two during high speed wrap-around accidents.

The inmates were known, they had planned to eat something and be at Bad Kreuznach was probably on the way back,

Revelation!

Spaceman writes in German, and translates all of his text through Google!

:awe:

The BMW was too fast?

Ya think?

As awful as it is, this is an interesting demonstration of the laws of physics. You would not expect the passenger's side of the car to be as intact as it appears in the first picture, given the near-total destruction of the car. It looks like the door still opens and closes. Sad loss in any case, particularly the child victim.

A buddy of mine died when we were 20 in a similar accident. And ironically it was in a BMW 3 series. They were going about 110mph on a residential road, hit a slight bump which sent the car airborne and turned it sideways. It landed by hitting a large tree and splitting clean in half. The 2 guys in the back, which included my friend died on impact. The two in the front survived with relatively minor injuries. The driver was convicted of vehicular manslaughter and believe he spent 3-5 in jail for it.

110mph on a residential road! That idiot should have been charged with attempted murder even if he hadn't killed anyone in an accident.

You're an idiot.
It's not worth explaining this to you. You can't even figure out twitter. Stop investigating car accidents and reaching conclusions.

Twitter is for idiots who drive BMWs with an expectation of not splitting in two during high speed wrap-around accidents. :ninja:

Show me others. Then show me the make of the car as percentage that are likely to split in two vs other makes.

BMW FAIL.

I know you're just trolling for fun, but :

Basically any car will split in half at high speed impact with a narrow solid obstacle that's well rooted/mounted to the ground.

Just on that page I see Porsche, Mercedes, Veyron, Ferrari, Acura Integra, Audi, Taurus, Chevy, Maxima, etc.

And I don't think anyone keeps statistics on how many cars are split in half, which would be useless anyway because it's unreasonable to think that any car can be tossed sideways into a pole at 100+ and come out without epic damage. Actually when you think about it the car splitting in half actually gives the best chance of anyone surviving as it's even worse when a car just wraps around a pole and immediately crushes all of it's occupants into smashed bits. As for a vehicle hypothetically strong enough to not deform the passenger area in such conditions, one might ask Dale Earnhardt what the repercussions of a sudden extreme deceleration are, such as 100+ to zero in microseconds.

That's messed up. Dale is dead. You can fix this by visiting your local NASCAR shrine, and venerating the #3.

I feel awful now.

No Wai! Not the venerable Nissan Maxima! Say it ain't so! :sneaky:
