Gotta love TX & the whole deferred adjudication thing
I believe they'll only defer on <20 mhp over the limit though...

I've gotten tagged twice. Once it was 70 in a 65 and he gave me a warning...that was a state cop. Then i got tagged doing 41 in a 35 (they had just dropped it down that morning from 45) going downhill and while I was riding my breaks. Sigh...that one was 100 bucks.
WV cops, especially city cops in some of these small towns, live and die by speed traps. Its the only funding they have.

If you get pulled over in Virginia and you're doing over 80mph, expect to pay over $300.
In New York, 5mph over is $75. Hate to see what more than that is.![]()

speeding is not worth it. it doesn't save you much time at all despite what it seems like.
I did some testing due to boredom of night commuting.
My home to my work: about 20 miles.
driving avg speed of 70mph = it takes me about 30 mins to get home
driving avg speed of 90mph = it takes me about 28 mins to get home
not worth it at all for that 2 mins.

uh.. 70mph would take about 17 min. to get home, and 90 mph would take about 13 min...
mph X time = miles
time = miles/mph = miles/mph x 60 min/hr

Its also illegal to have radar detector there. They must really not paid those cops enough, so they have to result to get money in any given way.

I'm back. RESULTS? Mixed bag....semi-good and semi-bad.
The Good: I overestimated my fine. It was "only" $160, not $170
The Bad: The probation period is 90 days, not 60..been awhile since I got nailed.
Courthouse doesn't open until 0800. I got there at 0710 and there were 5 people ahead of me, waiting in line by the front door.
Once it opened, I was in and out in 30 minutes...and $160 poorer. Oh well. Now I get to do the speed limit for 90 days! Oh, the humility!!!!:Q
