The BMW M3 is probably the greatest model car ever made. It's enduring, it gets better and better, and it consistantly wins competitions while remaining affordable. My opinion, of course.

The aluminum V8 is actually pretty light, coming within a few lbs of the older biturbo engine. The weight issue is the chassis & AWD.

Regardless, Audi screwed the pooch by slinging in a huge engine to beat the M3, and still loosing to the m3. That said, I'd say the Audi S4 comes in between the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Accord. ;)

Did you happen to notice that the Audi S4 posts a better lap time than the M3 on Top Gear?

And as for your Audi S4 coming between the Accord and the Corolla...well, the idiocy of that statement really doesn't require a rebuttal.

EDIT: Your comment about M3s winning competitions--you do realize that GT-class M3s have V8s in them right?

You know that wink in my post meant I was coming on to you, right? Because it couldn't possibly have been indicative of the use of sarcasm.

Calm down n00b, don't go off on people when you don't understand forum etiquette.
I'd say this is more likely a case of "sucka gets owned then tries to play it off as sarcasm." I've been here so much longer than you, I am well aware of the tricks NOOBS like you like to play.

Edit: I'm going add a wink in case I get owned so I can play my post off as a sarcasm and call the person who owned me a noob.

ok here it goes.. ;)

there

Because I really believe the S4 is in league with the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Accord.... Seriously, are you retarded? Did you leave your sarcasm meter at home? Get a clue.

Ok, then lets use the E46 M3 as an example. As I know first hand the cost of one. That was imported, yet I still saved 35k compared to the NSX, yet it still would wipe the floor with it.
Where are you getting your info from?

The RX8 and the 350Z are as fast as the M3.
The S4, STi, and Evo are quicker than the M3.

So how does the M3 wipe the floor with the NSX?
A RX8 and 350z as fast as the M3? S4, STi, Evo quicker? Are you on drugs? The only reason the STi and Evo are "equivalent" in the 1/4 is cause they are AWD, but get above 100mph and the M3 will destroy them (in stock form), and the M3 is quicker than the S4 in certain aspects (but gotta love AWD). I suggest you get off your computer and get into the real world before you post on things that you know nothing about.

*Note: There are hundreds of tracks and conditions that make a huge difference on what cars perform better. I am referring to overall performance, not only on one particular track with turns every 500 meters (in which a powerful RWD car as the M3, z06, etc) would not perform as well. Im refering to top end, initial speed, skidpad, braking, 1/4, etc. Hell I bet my WRX would out-perform an M3 or corvette in the wet twisties because of awd, but that doesn't make it better.
Yet you're the idiot who seems to be focusing solely on straight-line and top end performance while failing to take in the whole picture.
I am talking about the whole picture or do you have trouble reading? I don't mean to be rude, but I was talking about a wide variety of factors (1/4, 60, skidpad, braking, top-end, and around corners) and also included weather, track, and driver considerations. How much more of a bigger picture do you need?
my best friend OWNS an e46 m3, so you don't need to preach its merits to me.

that said, you repeatedly use top end and straight-line to prove how great it is. to quote you: "but get above 100mph and the M3 will destroy them (in stock form)," "Im refering to top end, initial speed, skidpad, braking, 1/4, etc"

skidpad, braking, they're the same. the evo might actually even be better. gripwise, the nsx has the advantage over an m3 simply because the engine is over the rear wheels, providing excellent traction.

But the point remains, the NSX is hardly a great performer for its pricetag, and can be outmatched by a long list of cars that are far less expensive. As I said before, all cars are better than others in particular performance aspects, as well as tracks and conditions. But there is not much evidence to suggest that the NSX is relevent anymore in the performance arena. I know its great in the corners and can power out of turns very well, but that doesn't mean it can hold a candle to alot of these other cars out now that are half its price. The only reason im using the E46 M3 as an example is because that has been the only pure performance car i've owned (driven a good lot of them including the NSX), so its easier to use it as a comparison.
If you looking for a car to go cruising with and just have fun driving (and have a ton of money to spend towards that end), then the NSX would be something to consider, but if your looking for a performance car to compete with at the track/auto-x, then there are much better engineered cars out there today with better performance stats that cost less than half as much.

You should qualify this statement with: in America.

The NSX-R, NSX-S, and NSX-S.Zero all perform very well, way above and beyond the lukewarm version we get stateside.

I understand forum etiquette perfectly well. I also know that two out of my three statements are purely factual, and designed to completely obliterate your previous arguments. ;)

Oh, and the fact that I'm new to the forum has absolutely nothing to do with my knowledge about cars. For a forum veteran, I would expect you to argue to the point, instead of calling people names.

1. MSRP on NSX = $90k , MSRP on corvette = 44k in coupe form to match NSX
2. Power/Engine: NSX 290 hp vtech, corvette = 400hp/400ft/lb tq
3. Corvette has a better weight distro.
4. The list continues on....

I personally don't care for corvettes, but just giving you one example of how the NSX is crappy and overpriced compared to an american car that outperforms and outclasses it in most all aspects. Now if I brought german cars in the mix, there would be no end to the NSX's blowout.

its not just the performance and price that matters man. its the spirit. the soul. the heart man. the nsx is one friendly buddy.

just think of it this way. the lancer evo spanks the m3's ass in many aspects. the lancer evo has even been shown to beat down the lambo murcielago. the ford gt will kick the sh!t out of the 360. but does the lancer have more respect than the m3? no. does the lancer have more pride than the lambo? no. does the gt hold a candle to the modena's reputation? absolutely not. so there you have it. an NSX is better than a corvette. its like a dog. an nsx is obedient like a dog, but a corvette is like a tiger. its fast, but it will kill you. will your dog kill you? no, but it will sacrifice its own life for your sake at the paws of the tiger.

this si the dumbest thing ive ever read here

once again, i remind you. young people- all they do is obsess with speed. its a wonder why they drive sh!tboxes everyday, as long as its fast. drive a benz E class? all you get are dissing from the cars that will smoke you. drive a lexus ls430? all you get are insults from integras because they can smoke you.

the nsx is a friend. one who will take you through life. nothing more, nothing less. let him do his job, and let us not discriminate but embrace all types of vehicles.

Hey, I like the NSX. I think it is an exceptional car, it certainly was when it debuted back in 1991 (IIRC). Trouble is that it got much more expensive and didn't really evolve much over the years.

My point is that I don't think this conversion did anything to improve the car at all. He probably made it worse.

There might be other cars that are better/cheaper performers out there, but they're all your common garden variety front engine types. The NSX is mid engine. It feels different, it drives different. And there aren't that many mid engine vehicles out there that are similar in performance/reliability/comfort/driveabilty/price of the NSX.
