Homosexuality

I believe that many things in life are learned. Humans are social animals, and much of the ways we act and the attitudes we have are a result of this social interaction we have with other people. I do also believe that our biology plays a big part in the ways we live our lives. I don't see any logical explanation why any one factor (nature or nurture) is the biggest factor in how we live our lives.

But now with homosexuality I am really puzzled.

If homosexuality is a learned sexual orientation, why is it lerned? There is really no social benefit to it. It often leads to discrimination and alienation from the rest of society.

If it is biological, why does it exist? It serves no reproductive benefits. Is it a mutation in the human gene that for some reason has survived?

Another thing, not everyone is gay (obviously), but everyone does have homosexual thoughts at some point in their lives. Why would this be? Could it be that the human is curious about things that society defines as wrong? Or could it be some expression of genetics?

What do you guys think?

Another thing, not everyone is gay (obviously), but everyone does have homosexual thoughts at some point in their lives

IMO, it's a natural aspect of one's sexuality. There is a certain amount of curiosity that is healthy in a child and young person. Whether they desire later on in life to live exclusively with a homosexual lifestyle is their choice.

I hate to bring Christianity into this thread (actually I want to, but some of you are going to be upset), but it is due to sin. God says homosexuality is wrong, so Satan tempts people into thinking that they like people of the same sex. It is the same reason we have all bad things in this world, it is due to sin.

There's an important difference...IIUC, most homosexual activity that takes place in prison isn't the same as a homosexual couple living in society. Jail homosexuality is about relieving sexual tension and control.
