"I may have misunderstood some of your arguments and probably your personal views, for that i offer my apologies. No excuses offered but you have my apology for that.
Not necessary. If I wrote not as I think but with an effort to communicate you would have better understood and we'd have saved bandwidth. I don't often proof read and never ask myself what the reader will understand... mainly cuz when I read what I wrote I always understand what I meant...
I do indeed disagree with DADT and for one reason, if we are not going to accept them as they are then we are idiots. We still need a few good men and if some of them are homosexual, i really couldn't care less, we're not in the business of fucking people, we are in the business of fucking people up and i don't see how sexual affiliations have anything to do with that.
Well, that was my thinking regarding the post I was remembering. I THINK some folks are affected because I hear the opinions of folks in other situations and testimony before Congress from the studies done on the subject. Especially convincing were the military leaders at that time.
FWIW, i'm glad we got it cleared up proper and while i do not agree i do see your point of view, it's better that they can join than not and there is still too many who would have a problem with it if DADT wasn't in effect.
Yes, that is my thinking. But also unacceptable to me is to have Openly Gays serve for the same sort of reasons.
Let's just hope progression can be made so that not even DADT will be needed, i'm fairly sure you'll agree with me on that one."
I think a time will come when men and women can fully enjoy the opportunities they wish to pursue with out having to deal with limitations based on perceptions. We have to grow up a bit, though. But military life I fear will take longer to get to so long as they continue to belch out of West Point folks who propound the argument as fact. I've a BInLaw class of '70 who'd agree with you and a son who'd disagree completely. I've a son who is a Cop whose partner is a woman and he sees life totally different than his brother.
Edit: I neglected to mention - I've just been poked by my daughter... - that I've a daughter who is lesbian and proud of it...
