There were no other houses in walking distance of ours, and I guess it was within biking distance, but that was a 8mile one way ride. So yeah i spent most of my days on the computer when i finished classes and homework. It wasn't easy stuff. I came out with a 3.4GPA, but from the 10-12th grade I routinely spent 8AM-5PM doing the DVD classes, with one hour for lunch, then would take me about 4-6 hours for homework, especially when I took planar geometry and physics. It gave me time to build my first computer at age 13, and start webhosting at 15. But again, I was not, and still am not, anti social. Even though I had zilch sociality when I was a kid. It's not that difficult to get yourself "social". Some people just take longer than others. Forcing kids out into it doesn't make it any better. That's like telling a guy that's afraid of heights to go up a 300ft. tall Silo. And everyone mentioning sports clubs and all that, ok maybe you enjoyed that as a kid, doesn't mean everyone does. I for one *hated* organized sports, I hated clubs, camping, ect. Now I love the outdoors. I love to go mow the lawn, rake the leaves, go for a bikeride, ect. I loved to play baseball, badmitton, and kickball with my friends on the 3rd saturday of every month. But I hated clubs. Why? I hate when something is *required* of me, that i find fun. Because when you take something I enjoy, it ceases to be fun anymore. Think a gynecologist enjoys every single woman that spreads her legs :p.

I guess home school did not teach you on how to use paragraphs.

lol yeah, I didn't even even read it because of the formatting. But that aligns with the thought that home schooled people are social ignored ;)

Eh, I've known a lot of home schooled kids over the years. I don't know of any that turned out quite that awkward, but I have known several from public schools that did.

I think there are plenty of responsible parents that home-school their kids. I believe the worst are those that home-school with a concerted effort to prevent their child's exposure to other ideas. This could be political nuts, religious nuts and anything in between.

Wow what a nerd.

Though we can't diss him too much. He probably has all the schematics ready for a high tech device that could destroy the entire planet. Basement kids are the ones to watch out for. :p

That's probably the worst comic strip that I've ever seen.

cosigned. I've read funnier Ziggy comics.

That kid's parents deserve a pat on the back. Way to put all of your eggs in one basket. That kid is going to grow up with no friends and no social life, but he'll sure as hell be book smart! He'll get into a great college, graduate with a 4.0 GPA, then proceed to fail at whatever job he gets since he won't be able to communicate.

"O'Donney! Did you take care of that report I needed?"
"My name is *snort* O'Dorney, you said it wrong."
As he proceeds to get shitcanned, and rightfully so.

It's spelled correctly. If you are going to be a grammar nazi, at least point out the correct error.

Participating in organized teams, clubs, events, etc provide so many things. Team skills, discipline, competition/how to deal with adversity, provide the opportunity to meet/work with people you wouldn't normally would, etc.

Most people that have an interest want to pursuit it further by participating on sports, academic, music/theatre/art teams/clubs. The antisocial are the one's that don't enjoy these organized activities.

It might, but don't you think you could teach your child better things and at a faster rate?

Kids soak up information like a sponge right? So why not teach calculus at that young age? All sorts of difficult subjects could be mastered early on.

You do realize that a child can be home schooled while still participating in peer environments...?

this kids parents clearly screwed him by not getting him involved with other people

although i will say that i sort of like people who cut the bs and just speak their mind

am i supposed to really give a shit if he wasn't using hedge statements to not be rude to a bullshit reporter?

Well I don't think that kids options should be limited to ONLY those activities if you are going to call them anti-social for not liking them..but ya, that kind of stuff helps people to find out what they might like to do in life

You'd be surprised how many intelligent people are in the armed forces. Sure there are plenty of idiots, but that's a pretty broad accusation that you make towards the millions of men and women that do a lot for you.
