I know a lot of parents who home school their children. They are all very religious and also do not like their children to see any alternative world views. For example, one would not take their children to a japaneese restaurant because they sing a buddist song to people on their birthdays.
The end result is culturally suppressed girls who are taught to depend on men, and girly boys who are babied by momma and never learn to be men. All wrapped up in a nice religious fog that blinds them into believe the whole world is evil and out to get them.
My sister married a guy who was 'church' schooled in a southern baptist church. He was the one of two kids in his class. He got a job working for a family member doing construction. We discovered he didn't know how to compute the area of a rectangle, do simple 2 digit addition, and could not divide. He now wants my niece to attend the same kind of 'schooling'. Luckily my sister is the man of the house and put her in a real school.
