Home Invaders vs 11-Yr Old with 12-gauge

Sad that the girl will probably be a little messed up over killing two people but it could have been a lot worse. Glad she was trained how to use a firearm and a 12-gauge no less.

Not a recent news story, and the effective use of a firearm in home defense is not unusual in any case, but still a good example of why teaching kids how to shoot and shoot well is a good thing.

The take away is that firearms courses like the Appleseed Project are worth signing up for and more opportunities for these need to be funded, particularly in border states.

Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the 11-year-old’s knee-crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen and genitals.

When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive.

Interesting that there is someone in the OP that mentions that they are familiar with the incident and the effort to deny it happened.

A lot of stuff happens in the world that doesn't make it into the newspaper.

There is some reasonable doubt in this case, but there are hundreds of documented examples that pretty much follow that same theme of home invaders coming off the worse for confronting an armed occupant.

I would generally agree, except that in this case there was quite a bit of research done by numerous debunking groups, including public records searches and conversations with the sheriff. If you google the primaries, and check the main sites (snopes, ats, tof, etc) you'll get a lot of supporting evidence to show that this was made up as a vessel for anti-immigration (which happens as much if not more than media blackouts of defensive gun use).

Before anyone accuses me of bias, I spent years co-heading a national gun rights organization, so I'm not one to downplay it...but false stories hurt everyone.
 
I like how the people commenting on the article think that the lack of any newspaper articles or even the sheriff of the town saying it didn't happen isn't evidence against the story, but evidence FOR a 'librul' conspiracy to hide the truth about dirty Mexicans and gun ownership.

I find myself laughing at them, but with a bit of sadness.
 
Before the thread gets away on any other tangent, I do want to say that killing anyone, even in self defense, is likely going to be one of the hardest ordeals you will ever face. And wounding someone in self defense, even if fully justified, will be even worse.

You will be both praised and vilified, your life will be put under a public microscope in a hostile press, the police will treat you as a criminal, at least until it is proven you are not.

Even if you are not criminally charged you will likely face a wrongful death civil suit. Get a lawyer as soon as possible. It is a good idea to carry legal insurance, it is essential if you own a firearm.

You will have to deal with varying degrees of doubt, regret and exultation, which will revisit you, regularly. Find a good counselor if something like this happens to you or a family member and go whether you think you need to or not.

That all of the above will happen should not dissuade someone from actually defending themselves and their family. If you take the conscious step to be prepared, be prepared all the way.

I had seen this story or a variation pop up before and it is always followed up by a disclaimer, followed by a proclamation that someone knows it to be true. Hence my referring to the movie "Kick Ass," that has a similar protagonist.

If it is fully debunked as an urban legend, so be it. It is not like there are not hundreds of documented cases that can be used to make the point.

Exactly. Better to use the ones that are known good.
 
Sounds like someone took the story of the 11 year old boy and added a little bit to the story to make it more exciting.
