There usually isn't millions of $ on the line for the average game of counterstrike.

Interesting... I read the video game market was about to eclipse the movie industry.
I'm glad they are working out ways to check for this. I wish other sports tested more...
There's certainly a crapload of money being made in the gaming industry, but not by those playing the games for the most part. In cycling, the sponsors pressure the team for results, if the riders don't produce them, the sponsors may go bye-bye and the riders may be without a team to boot whenever their contract is up. It's all about putting your jersey (with sponsor's logos) on the front of the race, first across the line, and on the podium.
Actually, I'm was just trying to point out it (cheating) is a major issue in other multimillion (billion) dollar industries. While I'm not going to go quite so far, some people consider computer gaming a sport, but like darts I disagree to an extent.
Everything you are saying is applicable to the PC gaming market. Don't think players make $, wrong, it's just only the 'professionals'. Just like cycling. Look up the
CPL. Over the past seven years, the CPL has hosted over 20 main events in the United States alone, with a total attendance of 35,000 gamers and has paid well over $1,500,000 in cash prizes. What was that about millions on counter strike?
