Holy RIPOFF QVC

Was flipping the channels when QVC comes on, and i couldn't stop laughing, there selling the 8gig ipod touch with some crappy accessories for $341.60 plus tax and $10 in shipping.

To make matters worse, there are a bunch of reviews of by people who actually bought it at that price saying what a good deal it was.

I don't understand how they sell stuff so overpriced? Who is there target audience?

Why do you care if people pay to much for shit? I used to buy used palm pilots off of another forum's fs/ft boards and resell them for $20-30 bucks profit on ebay.

People also buy it because of "easy pay". Their thought process, it's five easy payments with no interests. Doesn't need to be, interests is built into the inflated price.

Their customer base is people who can't get out to shop, don't feel comfortable shopping online, don't know how to shop online, and compulsive shoppers. And most of them are not that price-sensitive. They have money.

They love sitting at home and having the QVC host gush about every item - it's like they have their own personal salesperson. When they call to order, there's a super-friendly operator to take the order. The customers feel important for that couple of minutes, and there's the chance they might actually get to talk on the air as well.

i always thought people that buy stuff off tv are morons. Economics of it dictate that the prices will be higher... someone has to pay for the airtime.

My mother likes QVC. It isn't a terrible deal, but the stuff's higher than buying online. It's like shopping at Macy's instead of Target. They have the same crap, but Macy's costs more.

My mom is one of those compulsive QVC shoppers.

It annoys the crap out of me of what she buys on there. She even has a prime account on amazon (from me), and yet QVC is her first place to check for items.

Baffles my mind.

Unfortunately, I bet some high percentage of them are spending YOUR hard-earned tax dollars as welfare recipients.

Jesus christ you are stupid. Welfare recipients can't fucking afford the overpriced crap on QVC. That iPod is more the average monthly payment for your average single welfare recipient.

QVC is for stupid people with money.

My wife's aunt got a Wii recently and bought a second controller from QVC. And of course it was a knockoff without Motion Plus, making it useless for Wii Sports Resort. And it cost her almost $50!

At least she didn't buy the Wii from QVC, I can only imagine how much she would have paid. When I told her it was a knockoff she decided to return it and I helped her find an official Nintendo controller from Amazon.

"I can't afford this" is not really a deterrent for a lot of people, or may not even be a thought that crosses their mind.😉

A couple I somewhat know have relatively low-paying jobs (retail and warehouse grunt work). When trying to buy $200 in Christmas toys for their 1-year-old child, their credit card was declined as it was over the credit limit. (Helped along by Black Friday spending.)
What to do? "Gee, maybe I'm spending way too much money." Nope. Solution: Charge it to another credit card. They've already got more credit card debt than I ever had in student loans, and yet they have money for things like new laptops (bought 2 in the past year) and two new $30k pickup trucks in the past few years.

Reasonable people would curtail spending before reaching 5 or 6-digit credit card debt. People who don't care about debt just keep adding onto it. "I'll never be able to pay it all back anyway, so who cares?"

Probably the same people that shop here...
