I understand people (/me looks at Yoyo) like their bass but I think this is alittle much.

That's not really that unreasonable, taking the DIY approach to achieving big fast bass...just a pair of sonotubes. iamwiz82 bought a sonotube enclosure from me a few years back and I think he's still using it. Looks like B&W 802D's up front, not sure which model line they are. Nice set up, but small room. Pioneer Elite display? The LED's in the right place, but I don't remember it being blue...maybe it's just a regular pioneer. Running off of an Anthem AVM-20 pre/pro, can't quite make out the amp by glancing at it.

Well the drivers are out of production, but just before they became unavailable they could be had for under $300 each. I am not positive how much the builder of these two subs paid, but I talk to him occasionally and he spoke with me throughout the building process.

Oh yes. The builder had an SVS Ultra for a while, but then upgraded to a DIY 15" sub which he said beat the SVS easily (the driver in that sub cost him $200, the amp $240), but he wanted to really upgrade this time.

Kind of a strange mix of speakers with Swan 6.1s as the surrounds. I'm not sure what the center is 😛

I wonder if he has to deal with WAF, I would assume not :laugh:
 
The center is a DIY using Dayton Reference drivers (pair of 8" woofers, 6" mid, 1" tweeter).

And yes, believe it or not, he is married with kids. 😀
 
I have 1 Mirage S12 in a room about that size and at 6/10 volume during the battlefield scenes on Band of Brothers it rattles everything in my apt.

Those two would set off earthquake alarms!

Overkill for that sized room!

No such thing as overkill. He'll have solid extension and output down to 12Hz, and at low distortion.

Those are not that big a deal. Plenty of people built IB subs, someone uses the great outdoors as his enclosure 🙂 and if you want really tight bass with low power requirement, cement box will do 🙂

Now the folks over at Royal Device have the right idea. Dig up the space below the sound room and turn it into a sub enclosure.
