I highly recommend the book From Beruit To Jerusalem by Thomas L. Friedman for a better perspective of all the violence, it is a little outdated but provides a much better understanding of the situation than any type of CNN report can give.

well, I'm not going to comment on who is in the "right" and "wrong" here because there is no real black and white over there. But what I will comment on is the sillyness of so many people here and around this country in the black and white way they portray these sorts of things, and the EASE with which people can celebrate the death of people they know NOTHING about. The most worrisome thing to me reading this thread and a million like it isn't teh fact that there is war and killing because we all know that, its just how easy it is for people that may otherwise be nice, intelligent, and otherwise reasonable people to suddenly turn into bloodthirsty maniacs celebrating killing and war and genocide. It is sad just how bad human nature can be, and shows just how thin the line is between society and anarchy, humanity and animal nature.
And I mean shit, 90% of people think i'm a right wing nutjob and ya'll are making me look like a smelly hippie with all your warmongering. EVERYONES lives in the region are worse off for this conflict, there are no winners and losers from thousands of years worth of continuing war over a mother fucking god forsaken desert just because of who might have lived there back in the day. And yet here we are thousands of miles away cheering on the sidelines every time one group murders a few more of the other group
These people on both sides are PEOPLE, with mothers and fathers who love them, kids they take care of, hopes and dreams for their lives just like you or I and yet here they are a smoldering bloody corpse on the side of the road.

Assuming those in other cultures want exactly what you want = Fail. I remember seeing a documentary which featured, in part, the family of a 13 year old Iranian boy who had killed himself and 15 or so Jews in a suicide attack. They were fiercely proud of him and happy about what he had done. Their hopes and dreams were to die in an attack on nonmuslims. They couldn't be happier that the kid they took care of blew himself up to kill Jews. Their dreams are of killing in the name of allah.
I agree war is silly, but when one side makes tactical strikes against militants and the other routinely targets civilians including women & children - in a few notable cases civilians living nowhere near the conflict (9/11, London bombings, Madrid train bombing), it becomes pretty clear that the muslims are batshit-crazy and very wrong.

Wow at all these war articles. You can open up CNN any day and there's been another air strike or suicide bombing or other killing spree taking 100's of lives.
And we think we have it bad here with whatever issues we have like the economy. At least we're not getting our buildings and houses blown up on a daily basis and losing people.

It's not "day after day." Also, Hamas is definitely the aggressor here. They don't want Israel there, so they fire rockets into Israel territory. Israel's primary concern is self-preservation, so when they think they have a lead they just bomb the crap out of wherever they think Hamas is. I guess you could argue that Israel "started it" by taking the land in the first place, but if you establish that the land is theirs, then Hamas is, as I said before, the aggressor.
Israel uses their air force too much.
If they want to stop rocket attacks they need to send in the troops. Bombing a couple buildings isn't going to stop a couple guys building rockets and launching them into Israel.

When both are going to learn that violent doesn't solve the problem at hand.
I can understand the Palestinian resentment and anger because their land & water was stolen from them and every aspect of life is controlled by their master Israelis. I can also understand why the Israelis do not want to give peace a chance because they can't afford to lose their grip of power & wealth that they stolen from the slaves.
But, to have peace both party will have to work together with out meddling from international communities.
