HOLY crap, wrecked my car.........

Well, this really sucks, i drive a 1989 peice of crap honda accord, this is the second car i've gotten, the first one was a 1990 maxima, that i totaled after pulling out in front of someone :frown:

Well today i was goin down my road, about 40 mph, just pulled out from where i live, and this truck in front of me slammed on brakes, and i didn't see his one brake light (his other was out). My friend, who was a passenger, said DUDE!, and i slamed on breaks. I tried to go around him by goin half on half off the road, but then he turned, but then i tried to get back on the road. When i did this the back end slid around and was still in the ditch when i hit a driveway. It then broke the back passenger tire almost all the way off, and poped me up about 3 foot in the air. When i landed it warped and made a huge dent in my car.

So now i got about 150 bux worth the damage done to the strut/tire area, and if my chasse isn't bent i got some body dammage under the door (passenger side) that will need to be fixed b4 the door will shut all the way. I'm now employed with food lion crappy place to work(prolly bout 80 bux a week), and i'm only 17 years old. What really sucks, is that my parents are makin me pay for the repair, if that is possible.

Yeah, i didn't have a clue what i was doing (*edit - public school drivers ed), didn't never look, stop, obey speedlimits etc...., but this one, i made a good desision, it was either to hit a person, or go in the grass. I wasn't like i was gonna hit a stopped person, he just desicded he wanted to turn.

wtf do they teach you in drivers ed then? i took it in public school and they'd damn near bite my head off if i didn't come to an absolutely complete stop (where the car rocks back) behind the line

You may have made a good decision but you need to pay more attention to the road and other driver's actions.

There's someone on another forum I frequent who had a black Porsche 944 & wrecked it trying to pass another car (basically hit a truck head on).
Once he got his check from the insurance company he turned around & bought a black 944 Turbo, something like 6 weeks later he is hit by a truck (he was stopped at a light when the truck turned into him). He's now driving a white 944 S2, but I'd hate to see what his insurance is.

What's funny is to look at the pictures of the cars. Other than the different front facias (one 944 Euro version & one 944 Turbo) the wrecked cars look almost identical. Both have the damage to the left front corner and of about the same degree (he got lucky in the head-on & basically skimmed down the side of it).

I agree. I mean, wtf? I've gotten into one accident so minor we didn't even bother exchanging insurance. Only two weeks ago did someone hit me (their fault). I'm 20 and have been driving for almost 3 years.
