I'm sure that's the problem, but it doesn't excuse it. If I even go to a bar for a few hours I have to take a shower + wash all my clothes to get rid of the stench, smokers are completely saturated in it & wander around clueless.

Completely off topic but I'm kind of torn on all the new no smoking laws, on one hand I think it's not the government's place to be dictating that (should be up to the business owner). On the other, I really, really like being able to go to a bar without having to wash every single piece of clothing I have on.

I guess it is harder for me to gauge the smell since I smoke, but when I didn't, I didn't notice the smell that bad as the OP claims. Like if I was sitting at my computer and my roommate came back in from having a smoke, sitting down on the couch not more than 6-8 feet from me, it didn't reek the whole place up, at all. When I didn't smoke, I only really noticed the smell if someone just came from having a smoke and I was talking to them within a few feet, I could smell it on their breath and whatnot. I guess if you clam four cigs in your car and go somewhere maybe. And what is with that... I see lots of people driving in their cars with all the windows up smoking a cig?


edit: Even as a smoker, the bar smell stanks. I always try to leave my jacket in the car before going in since it's easier to just wash my clothes which I was probably going to anyway.

Explain to me where in your OP you address either of my claims. Granted I suppose it's not unbelievable that you have a sister, but I was under the assumption that if she was old enough to have kids and an ex then you must be somewhere around there, based off the the way you structured the post.

I never said it was my house, although did say "our living room". I guess that might be a little ambiguous. I live with my parents, which isn't anything I haven't mentioned before. My sister lives here most of the time also. She's 2 years younger than me. I totally don't understand where the part about me not having a family came from. If I had no family, how was I born? Did you think my sister's kids were mine or what?

He's also not her ex, btw.

*shrug* I try to smoke outside and away from people unless with other smokers. Not sure where the bashing/holier than thou part comes in, I could care less if you smoke too or not =)

to put it into perspective, I work with 2 women who smoke (i mean there are more, but i'm only using these 2 in this example for a reason). I have lunch with them just about every day, so sometimes I sit directly next to or across from them. If I didn't see them smoke, I probably wouldn't know that they did. I still don't know that I could deal with being with either one of them in a long term relationship type of deal.

This scumbag i'm referring to in my OP probably smokes 24/7 just like he drinks. I think he's an above average smoker.

I meant you didn't mention it in this thread. I live with my folks too. I don't bring it up because I don't want to hear 100 people that know nothing about me & my family tell me I am still sucking on my parents' teat yada-yada-yada. I mean, this is ATOT for crying out loud.

My buddy who smokes said he can not detect the odor anymore, so it's probably commonplace.

Most of us/them don't know. I just quit smoking myself. Now that I've quit I realize how bad I must have reeked. Back when I smoked I had no clue, though.

Smokers in general aren't so bad as long as they keep it outside. Inside, yes it is disgusting. Dating a smoker is disgusting, though, because you're up close to the hair and tasting the ashtray mouth.

I used to hang out with the druggies in high school and was a smoker for a couple of years. As I get closer to graduating college it seems the ratio of smokers has dropped dramatically, from everyone I know smoking in high school to me only being able to think of one person out of maybe 75 I'm drawing from that smokes. Really glad I quit, it really makes you an outcast these days.

That's the whole point why the took it out from bars, resturants, casinos.. Not that it's not healthy (secondary smoke), but because they want to stop the spread of the addiction.

Though I do recommend you going to the doc's and getting some cool pills that make you feel great. Your choice of course.
