What is that? A trunk? Somebody's anus? Either way, it is a lot of power.

I agree to an extent, but it's what somebody just happens to enjoy, much the same way you happen to enjoy remaking an arcade machine :)

Yeah but it's not a waste of time or money since I get something new from it. I wouldn't be able to play these games otherwise. With audio stuff, I can listen to the exact same stuff on my $50 speakers and they sound great to me.

I think they enjoy building the stuff more than they actually use it when it's done

You could play those games on your computer using an emulator. Instead, you build a dedicated cabinet. Someone who puts that many alternators in a vehicle is into the competition scene, and they thorougly(sp) enjoy doing it.

And as for your $50 speakers, there is a WORLD of difference between the stock sound system in a vehicle versus a quality tuned SQ (sound quality) competition vehicle. They aren't even comparable.

That thing in the middle is the driveshaft. Probably a truck.

I find it humorous when the vehicle becomes more of a method of powering the amps and less of a method of transportation. :D

Nothing wrong with it. If the person wants to spend his/her money there instead of on the latest Intel piece of crap or on a big screen TV or whatever, that's fine with me.

I think it was kind on ingeneous how they used those pulleys to drive the alternators.

wow

16 * 400W = 6400W

6400W = 8.58HP

you'd need ~4 push mower engines to run the elctrical system in that truck

That's funny. When I read the thread title, I immediately thought of "1.21 gigawatts?!?!?!"

I'm not going to argue because it seems as if you're sticking with your opinion, but I will say that everyone has a passion for something. Their level of passion for it will be different though.

No, 400A.
400A * 12V = 4.8kW
16 x 4.8kW = 76.8kW
76.8kW = 103HP

That's assuming 100% efficiency of conversion.
