This is getting bad.... really REALLY bad!!!!
Well, we survived Irene's rains in decent shape, but the remnants of Lee are CLOBBERING us! We are on the verge of HISTORIC all-time water problems up here in the southern tier of NY. It has been POURING all day and it just has not stopped. We had bad flash floods this morning/afternoon and now we are forecast for flooding on the major rivers at or WORSE than 2006 when we broke records. I left work early and had to alter my route home 4 times due to impassable roads.

I am fairing fairly well - about an inch of water in the basement and our carpet and some minor things are ruined, but many people in my area are going to have really bad problems. This is going to be one for the history books in a very VERY bad way 🙁

**** UPDATE: ****
Hey guys quick update.
1st - we are OK and our home is fine except for the basement - we took an inch of ground (not flood) water. The carpet is toast and we are pulling it out, but that is small potatoes compared to MANY in our community that will probably lose their homes.
A part of our village in Endicott is under the Susquehanna river and has been evacuated. Down the river in Owego (the village I work in) the situation is very grim. The entire village is under water - the school district office I work in is sitting in three feet of water, the Elementary school is completely flooded, and our high school/middle school complex took flood water too. This is a disaster of incomprehensible proportions for this community. The Susquehanna river in Owego went from 17 feet on noon Wednesday to over 38 feet in 24 hours. the previous record from the 2006 flood was 35... no one is sure where it crested (somewhere around 40 they think) because the gauge went under at 38. It is just unreal.
