I have the Tie-Fighter but I got it for $60 instead of the $120 normal price. This one should go down pretty shortly....probably not enough though.

$270? I don't care. It's got 3,000 pieces!!! I got the Blockade Runner for $140. I know this is a shload of money, but come on, this is the single coolest LEGO set ever. For years I have dreamed of having a LEGO Star Destroyer, and finally one will be mine!!!

I don't understand how Legos can be that expensive. They're colored plastic blocks fer cryin' out loud...

Why are they so expensive? Is it the R&D or what?

Probably... We all know it only costs a few cents to make one of those little blocks.. lol

270 / 3000 = 9 cents/block..

Plus there's all the packaging, marketing, shipping to stores and profit.

Totally not worth it unless it can launch it's own squad of little tie fighters.

It's about 8 cents a piece and that's not too bad considering you have lucas being paid, the box, R&D on the set, and everything else. It will be discounted soon enough also. It's a meter long, pretty hard to get anything that big now for less that a couple hundred bucks.

If you average a piece every 5 seconds you should be able to have fun for 2.5 hours or so :)

Even at best I could never put a big set together that fast when I was little. I'd dump all the pieces out onto a card table and have at it. I had a castle that took me probably 1.5hrs at first, then once I took it apart and mixed it in with my other pieces, that time doubled :)

As cool as it is, one has to ask themselves at my age, are the ladies really going to be impressed when you bring them back to your place and there's a lego star destroyer sitting on the shelf? :D It's ironic, because I could actually afford it now, but there's no way I'd buy it cause I have no place to hide it :D

Whenever the ladies come over, just stick it down your pants and tell them you have a 3 foot long "destroyer" down there... ;)

I bought my hubby the tie fighter for Christmas last year. He hasn't put it together yet. I know that he really enjoyed it though. :)

Oh man....
Now I just gotta figure out a way to make it a "present" for my 2.5 year old daughter, so my wife doesn't disassemble me into 3,000 separate pieces!
the vessel includes a mini-model of the Tantive IV, Princess Leia's Rebel blockade runner
Hmmm...Princess Leia is actually a Disney princess?

It's SO stupid, IT JUST MIGHT WORK!

$270 is nothing for something of this size. My problem will be finding time to put it together and then keeping my 3 year old away from it. I just bought the Tantive IV on ebay for $150 and it is a awesome ship. I'm almost done with it, 2 months later.. :)

We got a 8% bonus when we accepted our contract last week. I would much rather have a GF4 ti4400, but now it looks like I'll need to buy both.

Edit: I can't find it on the Lego site.. Anyone know where to look for it?
