I just got my wife to agree to the 600 dollar TV so I am pretty sure she would say no to the 300 dollar legos:(

If you average a piece every 5 seconds you should be able to have fun for 2.5 hours or so :)
Well, yes, if EVERY piece you needed was handed to you in order and at the right time. You will spend 10x as long LOOKING for the damn pieces among the other 3000! The Tantive had 1800ish white/gray pieces, and believe me, it was extremely difficult to find a specific piece amongst all of those. This will be even worse, but what a ride.

My guess of how much it really costs. :p

3000 lego pieces including special parts - $10
R&D - $50
Star Wars use rights - $30
Profit - $60
------------------------------------------
Total price sold to toy retailer $150

Retailer selling at msrp $269.99

I hear ya. It's hard to tell the lite gray from the dark gray in the manual. It usually takes me longer just to find the pieces I need then to assemble a section.

I thought by now they had everything organized in the box :)...sort of cool they don't definitely part of the Lego experience. I remember my brother and I building Space lego ships and saying things like "I need a black, 1 x 8 or 10, a thick, yellow 1x1, etc :) "

fun stuff.

Let's see...

Minifig ~= 2"
Average person 5'8"
...so minifig scale is about 1/34.
Victory class Star Destroyer = 1600 meters
1/34 scale ~= 142 feet long
3000 pieces/3 feet ~= 1000 pieces/foot
so about 141,000 pieces.
At $.09/piece, this would cost $12,690.

But you know what? I'd still buy one!!!!!

minifigs are more like 1"

So the scale would be 1/16

It isn't a victory class stardestroyer otherwise it would be smaller!

its an imperial star destroyer

Whoops..I meant Imperial. I looked at the right dimensions, wrong name. And you may be right about the minifigs, I haven't looked at one in probably about 5 months. 1/16th scale...whoa!!!

That thing would be badass to own. Too bad there is no way in the world I could possibly justify it.

I wonder if Lego will start selling this in kit form? ;)

I think that if you ever invited a woman to your place, she would feel more comfortable seeing a giant Star Destroyer or Dinosaur than a Lego woman wearing a bikini. That's just my opinion though. ;)

I'll just shove that down my pants along with my 3 foot "destroyer" and tell her there's now a 6 foot hot piece of meat in my pants. ;)

That thing is huge! I would buy it if it were more like $100 just for the time to put it together.

Too bad the new movies have made a mockery (sp?) of the Star Wars Universe. Yes, episodes 1,2 were bad. Just admit it. I mean, relative to 4,5,6 ... 1 and 2 were really bad.
