You know, you'd think that. But considering all I do on Sunday mornings is drink coffee and read the crossword, I substituted coupon clipping for the crossword. It was all done in about 30 minutes. That was including the filing and the cross-checking of the list. If your time is worth more than $200 / hour, then you shouldn't even be reading this post. If you make anything less than that, the only thing that should stop you from paying $1 for a trial is sheer laziness.

yeah, im lazy + its not offered in my area

It's avail here. Too bad it doesn't list Albertson's - the closest store to my house. I might have to give it a try sometime though.

I'd like to know that too.

Sticking bags in other bags and paying for 10000 of bags doesn't count!

Wait a second... isn't Aldi's the place that doesn't even give you bags? :)

I think a lot of us would like more information.

Yeah.

Well, I did it. I risked the $1 and bought the trial. PM me if you want a referral. New members, PM me if you'd like to list me as your referrer. :)

I live in a major suburban area of Balto, but received
THE LIST does not yet serve your area.
So the field guide is the product for you!

What's a "field guide"?

It must be getting late:

A field guide to "... the EASY way to $AVE at your local supermarket!"

Teri reveals her best secrets for how she compiles THE LIST, her fantastic money saving weekly shopping list! This field guide is designed to teach you how Teri and her subscribers do their grocery shopping!

At $9.95 I don't think so.

Actually, it looks like this lady has tracked sales trends. She understands how and when each store's sale prices work. So even though toilet paper may be listed as "on sale" at your grocery store, she knows that the paper goods sales won't begin for another 2 weeks. So she'll tell you to hold your coupon.

you know, if the premise is to buy in bulk what's on sale with coupons, i do that already.

1. clip coupons EVERY WEEK. for things you need/regularly buy, would consider buying only if on sale, and even some random things you never would know about
2. scour ads for sales every week. when on sale, buy.
3. check your local paper. every sunday, the big three markets advertise in the LA Times, and offer some "extra" savings.

You buy the paper. The more the merrier, depending on how many times your store lets you use a coupon. This will be my first Sunday, so I'm not sure how many papers I'll buy. The way I see it, at a coupon-doubling store, two $.50 coupons will pay for the extra paper. Most people are saving like $30 in coupons alone, so an extra paper may be worth it.

No Kroger in the list, except in Texas. They dominate in many areas, although the group uses other names (Ralphs, Fry's, Smith's, Fred Meyer). Besides, in the countryside, WalMart Supercenters are very competitive.

Thank you for the detailed post, it really helps a lot.

I don't think we'll need GroceryGame.com because we already do this. Clip coupons on Tue and Sun, look for sales every week and use double coupons against competitors.

BTW - How's your Canon S400 been so far?

Well, I had my first shopping experience using the list. Total bill was $160.05 before savings, and I paid $88.40. I saved $71.65 (45%). Definitely worth the investment.

one more thing, a rant if you will, Never believe the "club" savings at the stores that require the special cards to get the discounts. So often, the "price without card" is so much above what competitors in the area are selling it for, it's ridiculous. "You saved $50" means you probably only really saved $10 or $20 over shopping at our competitors. But then again, the discounts at those stores are often larger than at other stores --- ONLY buy things on sale at those stores.
In our town, it's either buy from the "club savings" store, or get diseased produce and meat from the other store. ;)

I shop at Costco for the things that are a good deal there(coffee, ground beef patties, chicken breasts) and WinCo for everything else.
I am always amazed when I can get a very very full cart of groceries for $100 at WinCo when $50 gets me two bags at Albertson's or Safeway.
When you look at the prices, practically everything at Winco is at least 20% less than the other stores for the same brands, and 40-50% less if you buy the generic brands.

I shop for a family of 5.
We spend about $100 a week on groceries.
