Hmmm... That article said is was felt in Salt Lake City. Well, that's where I am and I didn't feel anything.

BTW- We're supposedly due for a big one as well. :D

T'would be funny if Bill Gates would have dropped to his knees and prayed God for forgiveness when stuff started shaking.

I live in Toronto.. no major quakes here.. when I was like ten though.. we had a 'tremor'.. I was sitting in my room and I heard this bong bong bong bong sound.. really loud... (eight floor in 18 floor apartment).. then I realized that I and my room were moving side to side.. me and the fam ran out of there FAST!!!.. along with everyone else in the building.. I would hate to have been in a high rise there in Seattle today..

Last time I was in Alaska I slept through a 4.6 :(, that would've been fun.

Just heard from a friend that works for MS here in SLC. He says that 3 of the buildings on the Redmond Campus are closed due to structural damage.

He also has a vid clip from a webcam in one of the labs in Redmond. :)

They're saying the quake occurred 30 miles underground and that it would have been a LOT worse has it been near the surface. Good thing it was deep.

We felt the effects on the East Coast before we even heard the news. No, we didn't feel any shaking, but our servers are in Seattle!

That was pretty interesting for sure ... BTW, Rossman, Vancouver is actually closer to Seattle than Portland is. It only takes 2-3 hours to Sea from Van but 3.5-4 from Portland to Sea. It's this "great white north" thing that throws Americans off.

Good thing it was a deep one otherwise a surface quake would have caused much more damage and loss of lives.

it was scary and funny here (in poulsbo)
however it was a 6.8 in seattle, which is only a 20 min ferry ride away and it looked pretty ugly there

I was on the fourth floor of one of the engineering buildings at the Everett Boeing plant when it hit. The floor shook up and down for about 15 seconds then the side to side motion hit for about another 30 seconds. Damn rough ride, scared the $hit out of me!

Holy crap is right, you should see the devestation pictures and I guess Washington state governor Gary Locke declared a state of emergency for King County. What really got me is the damage is estimated in the BILLION$.

Imagine if you were on the toilet doing #2 when an earthquake hit, do you wipe then run or take your chances and run or finish reading Maxim?

From time to time, Mother Nature likes to send us a little message just to remind us precisely how puny we are. Keeps us on our toes.:)
