Intel's earnings announcement is the 15th as well. I expect them to be down too. Intel still has lots of Netburst inventory, which it is selling at razor thin margins or at a loss. AMD's problem is worse because they can't produce enough CPUs to meet demand, they're making much lower margins on their CPUs, they have to stay price competitive with Intel, and they lost the performance crown. Both of these stocks need Vista out the door to spur sales, reduce inventory, and increase margins.

5 years?
My Northwood processor was released in Spring/Summer 2003, and it was faster than any Barton processor on the market.

AMD is still the way to go for virtualization because of the big time memory bandwidth limitations on Intel chipsets. Virtulization is the way to go in the server market. In the home market the core2 and soon quad are tops, but we'll see what happens.

I was telling my mail order bride last night how I lost $2000 buying ERTS and she told me to stop gambling. Imagine if I had bought AMD! I would be single again and playing WoW Burning Crusade.

What are the going prices for quad cores? 2x the price of dual cores?

That's kind of what I'm thinking....

It will be interesting to see Intel's numbers on Tuesday.

I have noticed that AMD chips are dropping like a rock. The X2 3800 AM2 OEM chip is $98.88 plus about $6.50 shipping this week from EWiz. That's the cheapest I've seen those anywhere.

C'mon AMD -- I'm waiting for any good news any day now, not just before INTC's earning report on Tuesday. :D

AMD and Intel are 18 month cycles of each other on the stock market. Just keep swapping around every 18 months and you'll make a good 20% a year.

Glad I have INTC. I wonder how long I should keep it.

I had AAPL and sold at just under $87... and then they went ahead and announced that iPhone 3 months before I thought they would. :(

I have INTC also and am thinking about selling after the INTC's earnings announcement on Tuesday.

I have RIMM and I can't believe how much of a hard-on the investors have for AAPL when the announcement was made but whatever.

And why did you sell after it dropped below what you paid for it?

Near term growth prospects make hte stock unattractive right now, but looking at the long term growth prospects, the PE is justified.

It's beleivable, as long as the poster has about $2M invested.
