As for you people bidding just to screw the seller, grow the fvck up.

People aren't forced to buy from newegg either, yet they are called gougers. There are posts of xbox 360 on ebay with the starting bid above MSRP. What is gouging then?

Yeah me too, it was a good point. What is gouging? Well according to merriam-webster:

3 : to subject to extortion or undue exaction : OVERCHARGE
- goug·er noun

Seems to me the guys on ebay are overcharging, thus they are price gouging. Most of the auctions start well above MSRP or have ridiculously high reserves.

On the one hand I don't really agree with what you're doing 5150Joker, on the other hand, I'm really PO'ed at all these a$$hats who buy these systems with no intention of actually keeping them because they think they can make a profit off of them. What they do is deprive many kids of Xmas gifts whose parents would have otherwise been able to score one of these limited (at the moment) systems. And no I'm not bitter about not being able to get one because 1) I ain't waiting in line overnight in crappy weather for any game system 2) I am not so addicted to games that I have to be one of the first on my block to get a shiny new game or system 3) I knew the supply was limited so I didn't even bother.

Yeah, I'm sick of arguing, but I noticed a lot of the bids started at $0.99 or $0.01 lol. But I did see one that started out as $600, so that's gouging.

I basically said:

People call newegg gougers, so how is this any different? What is gouging?

And this is what pisses me off the most. That's what I was trying to say. I honestly think Microsoft is at fault here for shipping so little too early. The other day in my newspaper there was a story about some city in the south selling cheap powerbooks and people got trampled, etc, it was pretty pathetic. I'm sure someone has killed someone else over an Xbox 360 by now.

Well I agree with your latter point. There could be several parents out there that have barely enough money to surprise little Timmy with a $400 xbox 360 he's been dreaming of all year only to find that some price gougers with friends that work as managers got ahold of the systems instead and are now selling them for $800+ on ebay. It may be fair in the capitalist system (caters to the rich) but it's morally repugnant. Others may disagree and that's their right but their opinion doesn't coincide with mine.

1) It seems as if you're HELPING them gouge... you do realize you drove the price higher?[/b]

Hey if I was outbid then more power to the seller! Go capitalism!

2) I feel that some of the deals in FS/FT are unfair all of the time. I see people selling 6800Ultra 512MB's all the time. I don't go around disrupting an honor system based on trust.

Not quite the same though. These forums are moderated and quite intolerant to price gougers. Just go look at some of the threads in FS/FT where some people tried gouging for a xbox 360.

4) It's kind of weird that you decided to take time out of your day to create a phony ebay account and falsely bid on stuff... bored much?

Actually yes, I am bored atm.

Why would you think that this Moderation wouldn't get you in trouble here for what you are doing?

Dude, why would you do that? These guys aren't asking $1000+ for these systems, they are up for bid. Now if some desperate idiot wants to fork out $1000+ thats their business. Who are you to go messing up auctions? You idiots, these people aren't gouging prices. they offer it up on ebay. Look at most starting bids are just over what they initially paid. Its none of your concern if someone wants to pay ungodly high prices for this crap. I for one am reporting you to the anandtech moderator who hopefully will follow up with you and ebay.

I'm not breaking any forum rules AFAIK. However, there are posts by others in here that clearly violate the personal attack rule. Perhaps you missed or ignored them?

It was auctions that started out at high prices that I bid on and was subsequently outbid anyway (by what seem to be other fake accounts).

I was merely commenting on your actions not the whole thread. I have seen people vacationed/banned for less.
Also, do you think that doing something like this might make others here not trust you when dealing with you in the FS/T Forum?

5150joker, that doesn't make what you (and others) are doing OK. I have reported this to the anandtech forum moderator. I hope he holds you accountable and reports your childish behavior to ebay for prosecution.

Messing with price gougers on ebay and my personal dealings have no correlation at all. My heatware feedback is proof of that.

I think it goes to character. You made my DNT list. But to each his own.

TBH, I don't care. Everyone that has had a transaction with me has had a very good experience and has gotten a nice item at a very fair price. My moral outlook on things does not impact my dealings with others in the FS/FT forum or any other forum for that matter.

I think I should win the lottery and retire to my own island.

As long as there was no internet access, I'd vote for that.
;)
