Okay.. That explains the hazmat trucks I saw last night. I work right next door to Argonne National Labs off of Frontage Road and Lemont St. Last night when I was pulling out of work, 2 semi truck looking vehicles with sirens and lights going just came flying out of the Argonne Labs entrance followed by two suv's. I have never seen so many flashing lights before on a vehicle, but I was able to get a glimpse of what it said on the trailer. It read "Mobile Containment Unit - Argone Labs" and the trailers looked like equipment labs with door openings and windows. They headed north on Lemont Road towards Downers Grove.

I wish I followed them

In the context of a disaster, "casualties" ALWAYS refers to death. According to Webster it means "serious or fatal" but always refers to deaths in today's media.

The injuries in this accident weren't even serious. I think you need to get out more.

I used to always think casualty meant death, but it seems the media is loosening up their definition.

I used to do a hazardous waste pick-up at a plant that had a 100000 L chlorine tank right beside where we worked. all people on-site had to carry chlorine masks on them at all times. they said if you heard an alarm, put on the mask and run like hell!!

Wouldn't do you a bit of good.

A HEPA filter is, by definition, a high efficiency PARTICULATE air filter. Chlorine gas is not particulate and would pass straight through the filter.

Your survival options are SCBA gear, a gas mask, or being somewhere else.

The latter option is generally preferred by most folks.
