Ten people were injured-five of them were firefighters. All are expected to be OK.

casualty does NOT mean death. It means required treatment and/or recieved medical help. dumbass
In the context of a disaster, "casualties" ALWAYS refers to death. According to <a class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="[L=http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?casualty" target=blank L] dictionary?casualty?[ cgi-bin www.m-w.com ]http:>Webster</A> it means "serious or fatal" but always refers to deaths in today's media. The injuries in this accident weren't even serious. I think you need to get out more.
Funny all those news stories from Iraq and the middle east where casualties include injured. I used to always think casualty meant death, but it seems the media is loosening up their definition.
Examples?
