Cool, Deer Park is down the road from me. I was actually looking at houses in that area for a while.

Oh, you guys didn't care.

Dear Ebay bidder,
I currently am selling a 1982 Corvette. A bad family issue has arose it self, and I need the money. Here is a little about the car, I have owned it for about a year now. I had a total engine tune up about six months ago (Spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, new hoses, new belts with a life time warranty, EMG Valve, New Battery, etc) new tires in the back were put on aprox. a year ago, brand new breaks and lines, where also put on a year ago, there are a couple of problems there is a door rattle and the head light rattle, nothing big though, leaks transmission fluid. The vacuums for the head lights were replaced when I bought the car which isn?t cheap. The starter went out about two months ago and was replaced with an AC Delco starter which was brand new also has a life time warranty. New hoses, new belts, new valve covers and gaskets, the oil is Mobil One (a fine grade of synthetic oil). It comes with a front end rebuild kit, ( 200.00 rebuild kit from Ecklers) also full le! ngth ceramic coated headers (300.00). The seat covers were also replaced about a year ago being they were cracked and unacceptable for a Corvette, and after paying about 2,000.00 to have it done have been well maintained. The exhaust was taken off and now has racing exhaust which increased the horsepower the sound of it is unexplainable makes you heart pound and your blood rush. When you drive down the road you hear those whiney annoying hoard sounding Japanese cars, but when people hear you they honk, drool, stare, and their mouth drops at this beautiful piece of art work Chevrolet has made. I am asking $10,000.00 for the car or if you feel you have a good offer please drop it by I am in a rush to get rid of the car. One little minor note this was my first car and I have babied it so much in the last year I have put about a thousand miles on it only. Any questions or if you would like to see it please email me at *****Hotmail.com or please feel to call me at 817-*******

Something's fishy here - are there 1,000 miles or 8 miles on this baby?

The problems from letting it sit are minor compared to the problems that will develop from use. So what if you need to replace the seals, remove and clean the tank, change the oil?

It's still brand new, besids that. Not a big deal.

Actually, letting a car sit can be as bad, or worse for a car than using it as a daily driver. If you're driving a car, yes, it will wear, but it will also recive routine maintence. A car that has been sitting for 20+ years will have a seized engine block, rampant rust along internal metal parts, useless oil, and dried or rotted rubber. Its just plain bad.

Let's say the car is in perfect condition.

What did the guy gain in letting it sit in the garage for 21 years? Nothing.

It isn't like this thing appreciated through the roof and he never had the joy of driving it.

He would have been better off buying a savings bond.

So.. you won.. but reserve wasn't met.

Did you work something out with the buyer to purchase the car? :)

Parts is parts. You're not going to get a 21 year-old vehicle which doesn't have either road rot or garage rot. Either way, you're still going to have to replace and recondition a lot of stuff unless the owner did a lot of that within the last several years. Roll up yer sleeves and get ready to start wrenching, but that's really part of the fun of it. Who wants to buy a real classic like that which has already been restored to pristine condition by someone else? No real car guy.
